Genevieve Gorder Wiki Biography
Genevieve Gorder was born on 26 July 1974, in Minneapolis, Minnesota USA, and is an interior designer and television host, probably best known for being the host of the show “Genevieve’s Renovation”. She has also hosted “Dear Genevieve”, and was a judge of “Design Star”. All of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Genevieve Gorder? As of mid-2016, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $5 million, mostly earned through a successful career on television. She also earns a significant amount of money from design, and has been featured in several publications. As she continues her career, her wealth will likely increase.
Gorder attended Minneapolis South High School, but spent a lot of time playing the violin and playing soccer. After matriculating, she went to Lewis & Clark College originally taking international affairs as a major, but eventually she changed her major to graphic design and found herself an internship at MTV, which she completed and was subsequently offered a job, relocating to New York. While there, she attended the School of Visual Arts and graduated with a BFA in design.
Prior to gaining fame as a designer, she was part of the series “Sex in the 90’s” mainly as a commentator. She then found work in the show “Trading Spaces”, becoming one of the original designers of the series. As part of the show, her design skills were showcased, but she also drew attention because of how she worked barefoot. Eventually, Gorder would do commercials for Swiffer Sweeper as a parody to her habit of working barefoot – according to her, she works barefoot so that she doesn’t ruin her shoes. Her design of a Tanqueray No. 10 gin bottle also drew some attention. Her popularity led her to become a designer of the “Trading Spaces” spin-off show entitled “Trading Spaces: Family”. In 2005, she then became part of “Town Haul”, which focused on designing small towns in the US.
Genevieve would sign with HGTV, appearing in “Dear Genevieve” starting January 2009. The show featured people writing to her and Gorder helping them solve their design problems in person. This led to more shows with HGTV such as “HGTV Design Star” and “HGTV Star”, in which she appeared as a critic and adviser. She also became the host and designer of “White House Christmas”. Gorder then started a new show in 2014 entitled “Genevieve’s Renovation”; the show features her and her daughter, and aims to take a personal look at the life of a designer. Aside from her shows, she also has her own personal design brand that she sometimes talks about via social media.
For her personal life, it is known that Gorder married Tyler Harcott in 2006 and they have a daughter who has been featured in “Genevieve’s Renovation”. Not many other details exist about her private family life, except that she and Harcott are divorced. Aside from these, she is a fan of soccer and currently resides in Manhattan
