Garth Brooks Wiki Biography
Troyal Garth Brooks was born on 7 February 1962, in Tulsa, Oklahoma USA, and as Garth Brooks is a popular country music singer and song writer, who is known all across the world especially for integrating rock elements into his recordings and live performances, earning immeasurable popularity. This modern approach allowed him to dominate on the country single and album charts while crossing over into the mainstream pop arena.
So just how rich is Garth Brooks? Sources estimate that Garth’s net worth reaches $150 million, which certainly makes him one of the millionaires in the music industry.
Garth Brooks’ father, Troyal Raymond Brooks, Jr. worked as a draftsman for an oil company, but his mother, Colleen McElroy Carroll, was 1950s country singer, and encouraged her children to sing from an early age, with Garth also learning to play the guitar and banjo. However, in his youth he was more interested in sports, to the point of gaining a scholarship to Oklahoma State University, from where he graduated with a degree in advertising in 1984. He then started playing in clubs and bars around Oklahoma, and was eventually persuaded to move to Nashville – the mecca of country music – and released his first discs in 1989.
From 1989 onwards, Brooks’ net worth increased considerably: 19 records altogether have been released, which include 10 studio albums, one live album, three compilation albums, three Christmas albums and three box sets, along with 77 singles. Garth Brooks’ net worth increased significantly after he broke records for both sales and concert attendance during the 1990s.
Brooks’ net worth rose steadily after each album was released. His popularity is confirmed by six albums achieving diamond status in the United States, ‘Garth Brooks’ 10 times platinum, ‘No Fences’ is 17 times, ‘Ropin’ the Wind’ 14 times, ‘The Hits’ 10 times, ‘Sevens’ 10 times and ‘Double Live’ 21 times.
A great impact on Garth Brooks’ net worth was also made by awards, as he is the winner of certain important awards including two Grammy Awards, 17 American Music Awards and the RIAA Award as the Best Selling Solo Albums Artist of the Century in the United States. Brooks was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 21, 2012.
Gary Brooks officially retired from recording and performing from 2001 till 2009. During this time, Garth sold millions of albums thus increasing his net worth. In 2005, Brooks started a partial return and gave a couple of performances releasing two compilation albums. In 2009, Garth Brooks officially announced his return to the stage, and began a five-year concert contract with the Encore Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip., which ended in 2014.
According to 2013 data, Garth Brooks’ recordings continue to sell well. Nielsen Soundscan, an information and sales tracking system, state that his album sales up to May 2013 grosses 68 million copies which makes him the best-selling album artist in the United States since 1991, which has obviously added to Garth’s net worth. This title is held since 1991, well over 5 million ahead of his nearest challengers, The Beatles. Brooks is also one of the best-selling artists worldwide of all time, as he has sold more than 150 million records.
In his personal life, in 1986 Brooks married Sandy Mahl, and the couple have three daughters but divorced in 2000. Garth Brooks married again, to country singer Trisha Yearwood in 2005.
