Eugenio Romerica Abunda, Jr. was born on the 29th October 1955, in Borongan, Eastern Samar in the Philippines, and is a publicist, television personality, talent manager and celebrity endorser; he has been nicknamed the King of Talk. Abunda has been active in the entertainment industry since 1976.

To begin with, the boy was raised in Borongan, then enrolled at Ateneo de Manila University where he majored in Business Management. Unfortunately his father died, and Abunda dropped out of the university to earn a living.

Concerning his professional career, he started as an actor in the Metropolitan Theatre, but then he was promoted to the assistant’s position of theatre administrator. There, he worked under the guidance of Conchita Sunico who was his superior in public relations and tutored Abunda, such that soon he himself launched a public relations company entitled Backroom Inc., but also worked with GMA Network as a consultant, where he received an offer to host a television show. Thus, he became the host of the shows “Show & Tell” (1994 – 1995) and “Startalk” (1995 – 1999). Later, Boy moved to ABS – CBN net work, in which he hosted the long-running weekly entertainment news and talk show “The Buzz” (1999 – 2015), and since 2001, the programme “Private Conversations”, for which he won a PMPC Star Award as the Best Public Affairs Program Host.

Keeping occupied, from 2003 to 2006, Abunda hosted the news journal “Kontrobersyal” (2003 – 2006), winning a PMPC Star Award again, this time as the Best Magazine Show Host. Moreover, he served as a judge in the reality-based talent competition “Star Circle Quest” (2001 – 2005). Since 2005, he has also been working as the talk show host of “Pinoy Big Brother”. Meanwhile, Boy Abunda hosted a number of shorter-running shows, including “Morning Star” (2004 – 2005), “Homeboy” (2005 – 2007) and “Boy & Kris” (2007 – 2009). He was also cast as a main in the television series “Volta” (2008), in which he portrayed Ama. Moreover, as the anchor he was seen in the shows “SNN: Showbiz News Ngayon” (2009 – 2011) and “Bandila” (2011 – 2014).

In 2011, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of PMPC Star Awards for TV. Recently, Abunda hosted the show “Aquino & Abunda Tonight” (2014 – 2015), and currently “Tonight with Boy Abunda” (2015 – present).

What is more, Boy Abunda has appeared in several feature films, including “Volta” (2004) directed by Wenn V. Deramas, portraying Ama. As himself, Boy was shown in the films “Scaregiver” (2008), “Noy” (2010) and “Boy Pick – Up: The Movie” (2012).
