Thomas Christopher Parnell Wiki Biography

Thomas Christopher Parnell was born on 5 February 1967, in Memphis, Tennessee USA, and is a singer, actor and comedian, perhaps best known for being a cast member of “Saturday Night Live” from 1998 to 2006. He’s also known for his role in the series “30 Rock” portraying Dr. Leo Spaceman, but all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

How rich is Chris Parnell? As of late-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $5 million, mostly earned through a successful career in acting and comedy. He’s also done voice acting work, being the voice of Cyril Figgis in the comedy show “Archer”, and voicing Jerry Smith in the series “Rick and Morty”. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will increase.

Chris is the son of voice actor Jack Parnell, possibly one of the reasons why Chris went into that side of the acting business. Chris attended Germantown High School, and after matriculating, went to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. He would study Drama, and after graduating, move back to his hometown to teach acting at his former high school. Eventually, he decided to move to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career, joining with the group The Groundlings.

He performed numerous productions with The Groundlings, and was eventually hired to be a cast member of “Saturday Night Live”. He had few roles when he joined the show in 1998, but after a year he transitioned to being a regular cast member; this was the beginning of his increase in net worth. However, in 2001 Parnell was laid-off due to budget cuts and the acquisition of new cast members, but this situation did not last long, as he would return to SNL in the middle of the following season, performing numerous sketches, impressions and parodies. He was known to work with Andy Samberg, and has performed raps about the show’s numerous celebrity hosts, including Ashton Kutcher, Kirsten Dunst and Jennifer Garner. During his time with the show, he earned the nickname “The Ice Man” because of how he could perform without breaking character.

In 2006, Chris was fired once again due to budget cuts, though he mentioned that he was considering leaving the show after the season anyway. He spent eight seasons with “Saturday Night Live” in total, and would continue with a few cameo appearances over the next few years. He would then star in the 2010 sitcom “Big Lake” alongside former SNL cast-mate Horatio Sanz, before branching out into animated voice work, including for “Hotel Transylvania” and “Archer”. He has also made several guest appearances in shows such as “30 Rock”, and narrated the series “Word Girl”. In 2011, he was cast in the comedy show “Suburgatory”, remaining in it for three years; Parnell started out in the show as a recurring character but was eventually promoted to become a regular cast member.

A few of his latest projects include the animated Adult Swim show “Rick & Morty”, and being the voice of the commercials for Progressive Insurance. To date, Chris has appeared in over 40 films, and been involved in more than 80 TV, video and voice-over productions, so his continued work ensures that his net worth will rise further.

For his personal life, little is known of any relationships, not even any rumors – Chris is apparently still single.

Thomas Christopher Parnell Quotes

  • When asked at an Saturday Night Live (1975) pitch meeting if he had any ideas for host Jude Law: “A scene where we play half-brothers, because, let’s face it, that’s all anybody would believe.”
  • When asked what project didn’t live up to what he envisioned: “SNL, but only in the respect that I didn’t envision getting fired.”
  • What he learned from doing impressions on Saturday Night Live (1975): “The main thing is to be funny, whether people know (the impersonation) or not. You have to let go of the fact no one knows this person and just try to be funny, ultimately.” On watching Saturday Night Live (1975): “When I was very little … we’d go up to my grandmother’s in Milan, Tennessee, and because we were there, we didn’t go to church the next day. So me and my dad would stay up late and catch Saturday Night Live (1975) on her small black-and-white set.”
  • On staying in character: “Sometimes it’s very hard, but hopefully you are in the moment as an actor and you are just trying to react as the character in the scene would.”

  • The character of Brick Tamland, the mentally retarded weather man, in ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy’ (2004) was written by Will Ferrell and Adam McKay with Parnell in mind. • Good friends with Ron Livingston and Lauren Graham.
  • His dad, Jack Parnell, has been in the voice-over industry for 40+ years, and has worked as the “image voice” for local Memphis businesses (Kroger, Federal Express) and a local TV station, but has voiced countless TV/radio commercials and instructional video presentations throughout the US and internationally.

He has been beaten up by Dwayne Johnson, Paul Levesque, Mick Foley, Mick Foley, and Jackie Chan. He has been killed by Christopher Walken, Robert De Niro, and Will Ferrell, among others.
  • Contrary to popular belief, he did not swallow the food Will Ferrell “fed” him during the infamous Saturday Night Live (1975) sketch “The Regurgitating Family” (with host Julianna Margulies). The camera would quickly cut to someone else after the food entered his mouth and he spit it out into a towel on his lap.
  • His firing/rehiring has been a frequent running gag on Saturday Night Live (1975). In one sketch, it was said that “Will Ferrell had him fired so he could get his brother Patty Ferrell (Patrick Farrell) on the show!” In a song that Chris himself sang, he said, “Lorne liked me so much that he hired me twice!”.

  • He winded up returning to Saturday Night Live (1975) with no fanfare, as a mention of his return was cut from Saturday Night Live (1975) after dress rehearsal.
  • Frequently played Will Ferrell’s brother in various Saturday Night Live (1975) sketches due to their facial resemblance.
  • Auditioned for the lead role for the NBC sitcom Working (1997) but lost out to Fred Savage. However, the casting director remembered him and cast him a few years later in an online comedic short-film called Farm Sluts (2003).
