Edgar Hansen Wiki Biography
Edgar Hansen was born on 14 January 1971, in Seattle, Washington, USA, of part-Norwegian descent, and is a fisherman and reality television personality, best known for his appearance in the Discovery Channel show “Deadliest Catch”. He is the brother of Sig Hansen who is the captain of the ship called The Northwestern; the ship and its crew are one of the many ships filmed for the reality series. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is now.
How rich is Edgar Hansen? As of mid-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $1 million, mostly earned through successful fishing runs, and significant income from the “Deadliest Catch”. He serves multiple roles on the ship, and has been with the show since the first season, continuously earning from both opportunities. His wealth is expected to further increase with the popularity of the show.
Hansen is a member of a family with strong contacts to fishing and the sea. He has known fishing since he was 18 years old, which was the age at which he first joined the crew of the Northwestern as a cook – prior to becoming the ship’s cook it was his older brother, Sig Hansen, who worked in that role. Over time he would learn more skills needed for the ship and is now the deck boss, chief engineer and relief skipper. Aside from his great cooking skills, he is also responsible for keeping the engines, fuel and hydraulics up and running. He is also known to be one of the best fishermen on the ship, always helping to keep the crew fed, and ready to prepare gourmet meals.
The Northwestern was built in 1977 in Marco Shipyards and now operates for Tanner, Opilio and King Crab fishing. Eventually, they were approached by Discovery Channel to be a part of the show “Deadliest Catch” with other ships serving as competitors during fishing seasons. The title of the show is derived from the fact the type of fishing they do is proven to be dangerous, and can even be lethal. Edgar and his brother Sig are from a family of fishermen, and he’s often seen by the crew as a fair and tough person. One notable event that the crew joined was 2009’s Blue King Crab fishing.
Aside from fishing and going to the sea, the Hansen brothers, Sig and Norman are also known to endorse the Russian King Crab to various stores. This has helped in significantly boosting their net worth, as well as helping to promote the King Crab’s popularity.
For his personal life, it is known that Edgar Hansen is married to Louise Hansen and they have three children. He admitted that at times he is conflicted with going out to sea because of the long time away from the family. He’s known to be a compassionate person as well, at times sacrificing his pay in order to help other members of the crew. In recent years, it has been shown that Edgar is suffering from a spinal condition that could be career-threatening, as it would make it difficult for him to perform well in his career.
