Donna Richardson, born on the 13rd of May1957, is an American fitness icon, television host and author, who became famous for her fitness tapes, and for being appointed to serve on the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports by Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

So how much is Richardson’s net worth? As of early 2017, based on authoritative sources it is reported to be over $3 million, acquired from her years as a fitness instructor, the sales of her fitness tapes and books, and various television appearances.

Born in Silver Spring, Maryland, Richardson attended Montgomery Blair High School and became the first African-American homecoming queen of the school. She later attended Hollins College, from where she graduated with a degree in Health Education and Dance.

Richardson’s career began as a fitness and aerobics instructor; she later became a certified International Fitness Expert by American Council on Exercise (ACE), and Athletics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA). This enabled her to not only instruct fitness buffs but other instructors as well. Her early career as an instructor started her popularity in the fitness world, and also helped with her net worth.

After competing in various fitness competitions in both the United States and abroad, in 1992 Richardson was approached by sports network ESPN to become one of the hosts in their show “ESPNs Fitness Pros Show”. The show became her gateway to mainstream media and also helped in raising her wealth.

Later on, Richardson started creating fitness videos that were received positively by her fans and even won awards. Out of her 25 fitness videos, the “Platinum Buns of Steel” series was one of her most popular; she also executive-produced and starred in one of her workout videos “Sweating in the Spirit”. Richardson also became an author, and has penned two books – “Let’s Get Real: Exercise Your Right to a Healthy Body” and “Witness to Fitness”, adding to her net worth.

Richardson has also become a renowned motivational speaker, travelling all over the world to share her passion for fitness. She has spoken in over 40 countries and became part of national tours line Pantene Total You, God’s Leading Ladies, and Sisters in the Spirit. In terms of her personal life, Richardson was married to Tom Joyner, a radio personality, from 2000 until divorce in May 2012. The two didn’t have any children. Richardson currently resides in Dallas, Texas.
