Donna Lease Brazile was born on the 15th December 1959, in Kenner, Louisiana USA, and is a political analyst and a member of the Democratic Party, serving as the interim chairperson of the Democratic National Committee since July 2016. Her career has been active since the 1980s.
Have you ever wondered how rich Donna Brazile is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources it has been estimated that Brazile`s net worth is as high as $3 million, earned through her successful career in politics. Also, her net worth has increased thanks to her work as a weekly contributor and political commentator on CNN’s “The Situation Room”, and she has regularly appeared in shows “CNN Tonight” with Don Lemon, among others.
Donna is one of nine children born to Lionel Joseph Brazile and his wife Jean Marie. Donna showed an interest in politics when she was only nine years old, when one of the local candidates promised to build a playground in her neighborhood. She grew up in her hometown, and after finishing high school, Donna enrolled at Louisiana State University, from which she graduated with a bachelor`s degree in industrial psychology in 1981. After graduation she became a fellow at the Institute of Politics at Harvard University`s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
She found her first job in an advocacy group in Washington D.C., and was a critical member of the successful campaign to make a federal holiday out of Martin Luther King, Jr.`s birthday.
In the mid-1980s, Donna managed her first campaign, working on Jesse Jackson`s 1984 campaign and in the same year for Walter Mondale-Geraldine Ferraro campaign. In 1988 she was appointed as head of the campaign for Richard Gephardt in the Democratic primary elections, however, when he lost Donna became deputy field director for Michael Dukakis` general election campaign. However, she was fired from that position by Dukakis himself, after her comments that Barbara Bush would share the White House bed with him.
In the early 1990s, Donna was the chief of staff and press secretary for Eleanor Holmes Norton, who at the time served as Congressional Delegate of the District of Columbia, and was Bill Clinton`s advisor on his presidential campaigns in 1992 and 1996.
In 2000, Donna became the first African-American woman campaign manager, when she led Al Gore`s presidential campaign for the 2000 presidential election. Also in 2000 she became the chair of the Democratic National Committee’s Voting Rights Institute, after there was a fight over votes in the 2000 United States presidential election in Florida. To speak further of her political career, Donna was the super delegate in the 2008 election, and in 2011 she served as the interim chair of the Democratic National Committee, but only for a few weeks, when she was replaced by Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Nevertheless, in July 2016 she arose again to the position, which only increased her net worth.
She is also a recognized author; in the past she has written for several magazines, including Ms. Magazine, and Roll Call, which only added to her net worth. Also, she has written a memoir “Cooking With Grease” (2004), the sales of which also added a considerable amount to her net worth.
Regarding her personal life, Donna is recognized as an LGBT activist and has been open about her sexuality; she is a lesbian which she uncovered in her book “Gay and Lesbian Americans and Political Participation: A Reference Handbook” (2002), however, her love life remains a mystery to the public.
