Dick Cheney Wiki Biography
Richard Bruce Cheney, known as Dick Cheney was born in 1941, in Nebraska. He is a successful businessman and a well-known politician. He is probably best known for being the 46th Vice President of the United States. He also was the White House Chief of Staff, House Minority Whip, Member of the U.S. House of Representatives and also the Secretary of Defense.
So how rich is Dick Cheney? It has been estimated that Dick’s net worth is $90 million. The main source of this sum of money is, of course, his successful career as a politician.
Cheney studied at the University of Wyoming from where he graduated with a degree in political science. In 1969 Dick’s political career began as he worked as an intern for William A. Steiger. Later he became the White House Staff Assistant, Assistant Director of the Cost of Living Council, and worked in other positions. This had a significant impact on the growth of Dick Cheney’s net worth. In 1978 Dick became a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, in which he served until 1989. In 1988 Dick became the House Minority Whip and this added to Dick’s net worth.
In 1989 Dick was selected to become the Secretary of Defense, as the President George H.W. Bush nominated him and the senate confirmed it. Cheney was involved in such operations as “Operation Desert Storm”, and “United States Invasion of Panama”. In 1991 Cheney received the Presidential Medal of Freedom. In 1993 Dick left the Department of Defense and became the Director of the Council of Foreign Relations. This also made Cheney’s net worth grow. In 2001 Cheney became the Vice President of the United States, to George W. Bush, which strongly suggests that Dick was one of the most experienced and one of the best politicians at that time. In 2004 Cheney was re-elected and continued working as the Vice President. Despite the popularity and success that he had, Cheney decided that he wanted to retire and announced this in 2008.
In addition to his career as a politician, Dick has also written several books: “In My Time: A Personal and Political Memoir”, “Professional Military Education: An Asset for Peace and Progress” and “Kings of the Hill: Power and Personality in the House of Representatives”. All these books also added to Dick Cheney’s net worth. There was even a movie created about Dick, called “The World According to Dick Cheney”.
Talking about his personal life, it can be said that Dick is married to Lynne Cheney, who is known as a public speaker and writer. The couple has two children. Dick Cheney has also had some serious problems with health and had to experience many difficult procedures. In 2012 he underwent a heart transplant procedure. Despite all of this, he has still been able to work hard and achieve a lot in his life.
Finally, it could be said that Dick Cheney is one of the most popular and successful politicians, who has achieved a lot during his career and also helped his country to become a better place.
