Colin Quinn Wiki Biography

Colin Edward Quinn is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer, born on 6th of June 1959 in Brooklyn, New York City, USA. He is probably best known for his work on “Saturday Night Live”, anchoring “Weekend Update” on MTV’s “Remote Control” in which he was the announcer. He is also known as the host of Comedy Central’s panel show “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn”. When it comes to his film career, he had a notable role in the “Grown Ups” films.

Have you ever wondered how rich Colin Quinn is? According to sources it has been estimated that Colin’s overall net worth is $2 million. Quinn has acquired his wealth thanks to his entertainment talent and a successful TV career, but his performances on Broadway also significantly added to his net worth.

Colin was raised in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He went to the State University of New York at Stony Brook on Long Island, but didn’t graduate. His stand-up comedy career began in 1984, but he first achieved recognition in 1987 while he was the sidekick announcer of the “Remote Control” game show. This was the start of his net worth.

Two years later he hosted “Caroline’s Comedy Hour” stand-up showcase, and alongside Ben Stiller, Quin wrote and acted in the comedic music video “Going Back to Brooklyn” as a parody of LL Cool J’s “Going Back to Cali”. He also wrote for TV sketch comedy series “In Living Color” and produced and co-wrote the “Celtic Pride” movie. His net worth was growing steadily.

Colin was hired by “Saturday Night Live” in 1995 as a writer and featured player. During the season 1997/8 he became a full cast member and established himself on the show with characters like “Joe Blow” and “Lenny the Lion”. He also did a repeating segment “Colin Quinn Explains the New York Times”. Then in January 1998 he began hosting “Weekend Update” in which he commented on a series of media scandals.

After he left “Saturday Night Live”, Colin hosted “The Colin Quinn Show” on NBC in the Spring of 2002, but unfortunately the show didn’t last long as it was cancelled after three episodes. However, he had better success with his later show “Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn” on Comedy Central, in the period from 2002-2004. On this show, he discussed the political and social issues of the day in over 200 episodes. His net worth was still growing.

Quinn’s Broadway debut came in 1998 in a one-man show called “Colin Quinn: An Irish Wake”. In 2009, he presented his second one-man show “My Two Cents” and a year later his third called “Colin Quinn Long Story Short” which was directed by Jerry Seinfeld. Another one of his one-man shows, “Unconstitutional”, was premiered in 2013, this time with an historical theme, covering the USA Constitution topic. These all added to his net worth.

When it comes to his acting career, he portrayed Adam Sandler character’s childhood rival in both “Grown Ups” films and recurs as Hermie in the series “Girls”. He wrote and starred in the web series “Cop Show” in 2015. Quinn was named No.56 on Comedy Central’s list of the 100 Greatest stand-up comedians of all time. The Magazine “Irish America” named him one of the Top 100 Irish-Americans of the year twice – in 2004 and in 2011.

Privately, Colin gains a lot of attention by posting deliberately vacuous statements on his Twitter profile, thus provoking his readers. Other than this, he keeps his private life away from the media, so there is no familiar information about his relationships. However, according to some sources he has allegedly dated Lisa Lampanelli.

Colin Quinn Quotes

  • on keeping up with as many as ten Twitter posts a day] It’s a sickness, like an addiction. I have all these regulars who follow me, and they’re trying to outdo each other with creative ways to tell me they hate my guts and wish I would get hit by a truck or die in a fire. You find out that all these other people are pretty funny but not as funny as they think sometimes.
  • People say history is boring, and that is true because people are boring. We haven’t changed since time began. We’re still the same. We’ve obviously made some changes. When we started, it was all about food, clothing and shelter. Now we watch Top Chef (2006), Project Runway (2004), and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2003).
  • People say “history was written by the winners.” No, it wasn’t. It was written by the bullies.
