Marlon Wayans Wiki Biography

Marlon L. Wayans is one of the best known American comedians, as well as a director, model, writer, producer and an actor. Marlon’s net worth is estimated to be $40 million.

Marlon was born on the 23rd of July 1972 to the famous Wayans family that is known for their input to the American comedy scene. Wayans family originated from New York. He was born to a family of a housewife who is a part time social worker, and a manager of a supermarket It is worth mentioning that not only is Wayans family famous, but it is big in size – Marlon has nine siblings and is the youngest in his family. Everyone in his family is involved in entertainment in some way.

Marlon’s Alma matter is The School of Performing Arts in New York City as well as the Howard University. He began his career in 1990s when he appeared in the series called “In Living Color” and later in the situation comedy (so-called sitcom) created by his brother Shawn Wayans and himself called “The Wayans Bros”. The series was so popular that it ran for four years. The beginning of Marlon Wayans’ career was the comedy movie called I’m Gonna Git You Sucka in which Marlon had gotten the simplest role of a pedestrian. Marlon then moved from his sitcom on to such hits as the Scary Movie franchise which helped him to rise to fame internationally. Having said that everything Marlon takes up has enormous success it is also worth mentioning that the parody franchise was so successful that it earned almost $300 million worldwide.

Not only he is a producer but he also works as a writer. Marlon both wrote and produced the movie called A Haunted House which came out in 2013 as well as its sequel which is scheduled to be released in 2014. Most of the movies that Marlon Wayans works on have a relatively small budget, but eventually they earn millions in international movie theaters. He has also worked on such projects as Dance Flick, Little Man and White Chicks. One of his recent movies is What the Funny which even has its own digital media company. Marlon Wayans is also known for his contribution to the movie Requiem for a Dream. He also appeared in G. I. JOE: The Rise of the Cobra as well as in The Heat. He has also co-created the cartoon series called Thugaboo that aired on children’s TV network Nickelodeon. Furthermore, Marlon hosted a film screening for short comedy pieces in 2007, at Just for Laughs International Comedy Festival. Given that Marlon was once mercilessly criticized for his performance as a rogue in the movie called Dungeons and Dragons, it is safe to say that such great variety of creative outlet has helped Marlon Wayans to obtain such great wealth that is estimated to be $40 million.

Marlon Wayans Quotes

  • My family… they give me to the world… I feel guilty when I leave but they go… ‘go do your work’… I know what you gotta do. They know my purpose.
  • [on landing the role of Richard Pryor in “Richard Pryor: Is It Something I Said?”] – This is like an invitation to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro for me, and I’ve never been more excited in my life than when I got the role. I want to be in dramas, I want to produce, I want to write and I want to prove I can handle a role such as this one.
  • You need to be lucky in life, but it’s also what you do with your luck.
  • Look, I want to be able to make the stupidest movies ever, because they make people laugh and they make money. But that’s not all I want to do. And I think I’ve proven to some people — the ones paying attention — that I can do more. Everybody else, well, they can wait and see and make up their mind.
