Cecil Grant Fielder is a former professional baseball player, born on 21st September 1963 in Los Angeles, California, USA. During his career he played with teams such as the Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees with whom he won the 1996 World Series. He is a three-time All-Star Baseman and Designated Hitter. In 1990, he became the first player to reach the 50-home run mark since George Foster 13 yea rs before.

The following year, he was drafted by the Kansas City Royals, but was soon traded to the Toronto Blue Jays where he served as a first and third baseman, but during his first four seasons with the Jays, Cecil scored 31 home runs with 84 runs batted-in, and significantly increased his income per season. After appearing with the team in the 1985 American League Championship Series, Fielder decided to quit playing for the Blue Jays and moved to Japan, where he continued his career. However, he returned to the Detroit Tigers, and became noted as an excellent power hitter. While playing with this team, he scored his best hitting, led the American League in home-runs twice, and three times in runs batted in. After transferring to the New York Yankees, he played in two A.L.C.Ss (in 1996 and 1997), and entered manager Joe Torre’s World’s Championship Yankees team. In 1990 and 1991, Cecil was the runner-up in the A.L.’s Most Valuable Player voting. In this period, he was one of the most feared sluggers, but Fielder decided to retire from baseball in 1997, ending his career with 319 home-runs and 1008 RBIs.
In the years since his retirement, Cecil has managed the South Coast League’s Charlotte County Redfish and the Atlantic City Surf of the Canadian-American Association of Professional Baseball.
In March 2011, he became a member of the Torrington Titans advisory board.
