Bun B Wiki Biography
Bernard Freeman was born on the 19th March 1973, in Port Arthur, Texas USA. He is a hip hop artist known under the stage name Bun B. He was the member of the hip hop and gangster rap duo UGK (1987–2007). Bun B has been active in the entertainment industry since 1987.
Wonder, if the rapper is rich? Bun B has accumulated a net worth of $2.5 million, during a career of over 25 years.
To begin with, Bun B started his career performing with a friend Jalon Jackson in the band P.A. Militia. Later, two more members joined the band, Mitchell Queen and Pimp C. However, after a while Mitchell and Jalon left the band, so Bun B and Pimp C decided to name their duo UGK. The duo was active from 1987 ’til 2007 (until the death of Pimp C). They recorded six studio albums of which all but one reached Billboard R&B Top 10. Three studio albums were certified gold: “Ridin’ Dirty” (1996), “Dirty Money” (2001) and “Underground Kingz” (2007). While the partner Pimp C was imprisoned, Bun B released his first studio album entitled “Trill” (2005) as a solo artist. It was a huge success, as the album topped Billboard R&B and Rap Top 100 as well as receiving gold certification for sales. After the death of the partner in 2007, Bun B continued his solo career and up until now he has released 11 singles, four studio albums, seven mixtapes and 20 featured singles. However, he is mostly known for his guest appearances, as he has made more than 90 of them, including collaborations with Trae tha Truth, Paul Wall, Statik Selektah, Trill Fam, Kirko Bangz, Young Jeezy, Childish Gambino and many other artists. On the whole, music is a very important source of Bun B’s net worth and popularity. Regarding his successful career as a hip hop artist he was awarded the 360 Legend Award in 2014.
It should be noted that Bun B added financially from other ventures, too. He lectures a course of Hip Hop and Religion at the School of the Humanities of Rice University – Bun B has lectures twice a week. Moreover, Bun B is a co-author of the colouring book “Bun B’s Rap Coloring Book” (2013).
To add more points to this, he has landed several roles in films. He debuted on the big screen starring alongside Lil Boosie and Webbie in the crime film “Ghetto Stories” (2010) directed by John McDougal and Turk. Later, he landed a role in the drama film “Video Girl” (2011) directed by Ty Hodges. Bun B then appeared in the main cast of the documentary film “Something from Nothing: The Art of Rap” (2012) directed by Ice T and Andy Baybutt. Of course, these roles added sums to the total size of his net worth, too.
Finally, in the personal life of Bun B, he married Angela Walls in 2003. He is a step-father for two children and currently has one step-grandchild. Young-B, the rapper, is his stepson.
