Barry Eugene Carte Wiki Biography

  • Barry Eugene Carter was born in Galveston, Texas, USA, on September 12, 1944.
  • He was best known as a singer, songwriter, and composer for his distinct bass-baritone voice heard in songs like “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything.”
  • His efforts all helped to boost his net worth to where it was until he passed away in July 2003.
  • Sources report a net worth of $20 million as of mid-2016, largely gained through a prosperous career in the music industry; 41 platinum albums and 65 gold albums were achieved.
  • He also had 10 platinum and 20 gold albums, with sales of over 100 million copies worldwide.
  • Both of these are evidence of the riches he has earned in his life.
  • He also listened to his mother’s compilation of classical music when Barry was young and it encouraged him to learn to play the piano.
  • In 1972, he then developed The Love Unlimited Orchestra, a group that was originally supposed to be a Love Unlimited backing band.
  • Finally, Barry used the group for the single “Love’s Theme” and then they recorded their first “Rhapsody in White” album in 1974.
  • He will continue with the Orchestra to make albums such as “Midnight Groove,” “My Sweet Summer Suite,” and “Satin Soul.”
  • In 1979, he left the 20th Century, and he founded his own label, Unlimited Gold.
  • Disco songs were beginning to decline at this point in time, but he still retained a wide following and was able to chat with the song “Change,” released in 1982.
  • “He signed with A&M Records after four years with his label, releasing “The Right Night & Barry White”.
  • This will include a few tracks that hit the Billboard R&B chart along with the album “The Man is Back” His popularity resurfaced in the 1990s and he once again released several albums, including “The Icon Is Love” and “Staying Power.”
  • White also did voice-overs for television and film, aside from music.
  • This includes advertisements, and even a “The Simpsons” guest appearance.
  • He married Betty Smith (1962-65) for his personal life and then Glodean James, the lead singer of Love Unlimited, from 1974 until his death.
  • For much of his life, White suffered health issues associated with being overweight, including high blood pressure and later kidney problems that led to consistent dialysis therapies.
  • He suffered a stroke in 2003 and withdrew from public appearances, and he died at the age of 58 a few months later.
