Kerry Livgren Wiki Biography

Kerry Allen Livgren was born on the 18th September 1949, in Topeka, Kansas, USA, and is a musician as well as a songwriter, widely recognized as the founder and frontman of rock band Kansas.

Have you ever wondered how much wealth this veteran rocker has accumulated so far? How rich Kerry Livgren is? According to sources, it is estimated that the total of Kerry Livgren’s net worth, as of late 2017, revolves around the sum of $10 million, acquired through his career in the music industry which is currently spanning over 40 years, being active since 1974.

Kerry was born to Betty and Allen Leroy, and from an early age was interested in music, evolving under the influence of jazz as well as classical music – he even began playing an electric guitar which he constructed from spare parts by himself. Parallel to learning how to play a guitar, Kerry became interested in songwriting too, then while attending Topeka West High School, Livgren formed his first band, the Gimlets. Still a teenager, Kerry began circuiting Kansas’ as well as Missouri’s club scene with his band, performing his own original compositions, blending pop and psychedelic rock. These initial gigs provided the basis for Kerry Livgren’s net worth. After matriculating from high school in 1967, he enrolled at Washburn University in his home town.

In 1969, Livgren teamed up with the rhythm and blues band Mellotones. During his short stay with the band, Kerry befriended Don Montre with whom he soon after reformed the Gimlets, renaming the band as Saratoga. However, in 1970, alongside Phil Ehart, Livgren founded another band, simply named Kansas, and in 1973, the band signed a record deal with CBS Records and the famous Don Kirshner, and in 1974 Kansas released their eponymous debut studio album. It is certain that this accomplishment helped Kerry Livgren to build a solid foundation for his music career, as well as an impressive amount of money.

By 1983, Kansas had released several more studio albums, of which “Song for America” (1975), “Leftoverture” (1976) and “Point of Know Return” (1977) had the biggest commercial success, providing hit singles such as “Dust in the Wind”, “Play the Game Tonight” and “Fight Fire with Fire”. Then between 1983 and 1988, Livgren performed with AD, a Christian rock band which he founded alongside Warren Ham and Dave Hope. The band released seven albums, including the commercially recognized “Art of the State” and “Reconstructions”, which certainly had an impact on Kerry Livgren’s net worth.

In 1989, Livgren turned towards a solo career, and released the all-instrumental studio album entitled “One of Several Possible Musiks” which earned him a Dove Award for the Album of the Year. In 1994, Kerry launched his own production company, GrandyZine, and record label Numavox Records which released his second solo album “When Things Get Electric”. In 2000, he briefly reunited with Kansas, resulting in the release of the “Somewhere to Elsewhere” album. In 2003, Kerry reformed Kansas into a progressive rock band named Proto-Kaw, and has performed with them since that point – the band has released four studio albums so far. Doubtlessly, all these efforts have helped Kerry Livgren to massively boost the total size of his wealth.

Kerry has also guest starred with several other artists and bands, such as Robin Crow, Neal Morse and 2nd Chapter of Acts. Livgren has also worked on several motion pictures’ soundtracks including “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy”, “Pitch Perfect”, “Desperate Housewives” and “Supernatural” among plenty of others. In 1983 he published an autobiography entitled “Seeds of Change: The Spiritual Quest of Kerry Livgren”. All these have further increased Kerry Livgren’s revenues.

When it comes to his personal life, Kerry has been married since 1975 to Victoria Carpenter, with whom he has welcomed two children.
