Axl Rose Wiki Biography
One of the world’s most famous contemporary vocalists and musicians, William Bruce Rose Jr. is far better known by his stage name – he is Axl Rose, the lead singer and founding member of the world-famous hard rock group “Guns N’ Roses”, his long career in which has netted Axl an estimated net worth of $150 million. By now the one original member of “Guns N’ Roses” left, Axl Rose has had a long and illustrious career as a vocalist, and has enjoyed huge commercial success throughout most of it – releasing a number of chart-topping albums and singles with “Guns N’ Roses”, including their very first debut studio album, “Appetite for Destruction”, which remains to this day the best-selling debut album in the history of the US.
All this in mind, and with no regard for the controversy surrounding his personality and private life, Axl Rose has earned a place as one of the most successful – and richest – singers and musicians of all time. Born on 6 February 1962 in the city of Lafayette in Indiana, USA, Axl Rose had a dramatic and often unhappy childhood that is often believed to have propelled him into the world of hard rock. Rose’s father, William Bruce Rose, split with his mother Sharon when Axl was just two years old, and he was raised by a step-father, Stephen L. Bailey. Axl Rose has been quoted claiming that his step-father abused and oppressed him and his siblings – his sister Amy and his half-brother Stuart. Difficult home life pushed Axl Rose to look for an escape in music, and his outstanding vocal talents were already obvious during his high school years. It was in during his youth that Axl first met his future band partner, “Guns N’ Roses” guitarist Izzy Stradlin.
Moving to Los Angeles in 1982 due to repeated troubles with law enforcement in his home city of Lafayette, Axl Rose was soon on the road to success. Initially struggling to make ends meet, Axl soon reunited with Stradlin – and together with the guitarist Tracii Guns, they wound up forming the future world-famous band “Guns N’ Roses”. Tracii was soon replaced as the guitarist by Slash, and Duff McKagan and Steven Adler also joined to form the classic “Guns N’ Roses” line-up. Rose wrote his first hugely popular single, “Sweet Child o’ Mine”, for the band’s debut album “Appetite for Destruction”, contributing to the album’s chart-topping success and setting “Guns N’ Roses” up for their future glory. Future releases would prove equally successful, and by the time “Guns N’ Roses” split up completely in 1997, they were one of the world’s most famous and best-selling groups – which has certainly contributed to Axl Rose’s stunning net worth.
How rich is Axl Rose? Right now, Rose’s net worth is thought to be around $150 million. Most of this impressive amount is due to Axl Rose’s career as the lead vocalist and songwriter of the famous hard rock band “Guns N’ Roses”, of which he is the only remaining original member at the moment. The group released a number of chart-topping singles and albums, with sales figures well in the millions, and Rose’s share of the proceedings certainly went a long way in building up his considerable net worth.
Today, Axl Rose remains an active performer. In 2012, Rose did not attend the “Guns N’ Roses” induction into The Rock&Roll Hall of Fame, allegedly due to disagreements with his former co-members. In the same year, Rose was rumoured to be romantically involved with the popular American singer Lana Del Rey.

Axl Rose Quotes
- [in a letter rejecting his nomination for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame] Let sleeping dogs lie, or lying dogs sleep, or whatever.
- We’d rather be unknown and live in Idaho than have someone tell us what to play and how to “make it.”
- Some people say I got a chip on my shoulder.
- We want people to realize, man, just play whatever the f*ck you want to play, not what someone else thinks you should play, so that’s what we’ve done.
- My growth was stopped at two years old. And when they talk about Axl Rose being a screaming two-year-old, they’re right.
- We’re out there to win at what we do. And if that means going on two hours late and doing a good show, I’m gonna do it. I take what I do very seriously.
- I used to use the Internet a lot, but I got tired of reading all the garbage on there about me. The Internet is just a huge garbage can.

The couple broke up in February 1993 after Rose accused Seymour of being unfaithful. In August 1993, Rose sued Seymour for assaulting him during a 1992 Christmas party, for mental and emotional abuse, and for withholding $100,000 worth of jewelry. Rose claimed he and Seymour were engaged. In turn, Seymour counter-sued Rose for assaulting her and denied they were ever engaged.
