Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, commonly known as Adele, is a famous British musician, actress, as well as a singer and songwriter. Adele rose to prominence in 2008, when she released her debut album entitled “19”. With such singles as “Hometown Glory” and “Make You Feel My Love”, Adele’s album received a lot of positive reviews from critics, and immediately upon its release peaked at #1 on the UK music charts. Certified double-Platinum in the United States, “19” sold a total of seven million copies worldwide, and earned her a Grammy Award for Best New Artist. Following the success of her debut work, in 2011 Adele released her second studio album entitled “21”, which exceeded the commercial and critical success of its predecessor. The album succeeded in topping music charts in more than 30 countries, and was even featured in Guinness World Records. In addition to spawning such popular singles as “Rolling in the Deep” and “Set Fire to the Rain”, “21” received a Mercury Prize, as well as a Grammy Award. So far, the album has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide.

A well-known singer, how rich is Adele? According to sources, her 2012 income amounted to $30 million, while in 2013 it rose to $35 million. That same year, she collected $27.8 million from the sales of her “21” album alone. In regards to her overall wealth, Adele’s net worth is estimated to be $150 million, most of which she has accumulated due to her singing career.

Adele was born in 1988, in Greater London, England. Inspired by the “Spice Girls” and Pink, Adele started to express an interest in music. She attended the BRIT School for Performing Arts & Technology, where she met Jessie J and Leona Lewis. When she graduated from the school, Adele recorded several songs, some of which were put on the MySpace website by a friend. Seeing as the songs attracted a decent amount of attention, Adele received an opportunity to sign a record deal with “XL Recordings”. As a result of this, Adele met Jim Abbiss, a record producer, who later worked on her debut album. Prior to the release of her studio album, Adele came out with her “Hometown Glory” song, which brought her into the limelight. Joined by Damien Rice, she then headlined an acoustic set, and performed during a charity concert in London. In 2008, she released her debut album “19” and that same year was awarded with a BRIT Awards Critic Choice. More recently, in 2014 she was rewarded with a Grammy Award for her song entitled “Skyfall”, and received nominations for nine World Music Awards. Currently, she is working on her third studio album, which is scheduled to be released next year.

In regards to her personal life, Adele started a relationship with Simon Konecki at the beginning of 2012, and later that same year the couple announced that Adele was pregnant. She gave birth to her first born child, whom they named Angelo, in 2012.

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins (Adele) Quotes

  • [on David Bowie’s greatest producer, Tony Visconti] Some dickhead tried to say that my voice was not me on record. Suck my dick.
  • You’re only as good as your next record.
  • The bigger your career gets, the smaller your life gets.
  • [on Phil Collins] I met up with him and he was so nice. He’s such a genius. But I met up with him in London super-early, like well before I was starting the record. And I had this song in mind and I can’t remember if I gave him a copy of the song or if I gave him a chorus or something, and then I just chickened out of everything. I went, ‘Oh, I’m not ready.’ And he called me a slippery fish! I think he interpreted it that I decided I didn’t want to work with him, but actually I decided I didn’t want to write a record, period, at that point. But yeah, there’s no bad blood there, or certainly not on my half.
  • I don’t like the word ‘brand’. It makes me sound like a fabric softener or a packet of crisps. I’m not that. But there’s personality in an artist and if you’re expecting people to let you in, you have to be a whole package.
  • Heartbreak can definitely give you a deeper sensibility for writing songs. I drew on a lot of heartbreak when I was writing my first album, I didn’t mean to but I just did.
  • Crying is really bad for your vocal cords.
  • Even if I did have, you know, a ‘Sports Illustrated’ body, I’d still wear elegant clothes.
  • I don’t make music for eyes. I make music for ears.
  • I’ve never been more normal than I am now.
  • When it comes to staying myself – my career isn’t my life, it doesn’t come home with me. So it’s a piece of piss staying grounded and not being changed by it. The same things I’ve always liked still satisfy me. My team’s the same and my group of friends are the same. Of course I’m bowled over by people’s response to “21,” and when I meet artists I love, it blows my mind. But it baffles me as well. I go home and my best friend laughs at me, rather than going to a celebrity-studded party to rub shoulders with people who know me but who I don’t know. I’m Z-list when it comes to that shit.
  • I love food and hate exercise. I don’t have time to work out. I don’t want to be on the cover of Playboy or Vogue. I want to be on the cover of Rolling Stone or Q. I’m not a trend-setter. I’m a singer. I’d rather weigh a ton and make an amazing album than look like Nicole Richie and do a shit album. My aim in life is never to be skinny.
  • [on singing her songs of heartbreak] Imagine if you weren’t in an office job or whatever, and you were performing your feelings as I do. It’s kind of like not getting over something isn’t it, because every night you have to talk about it.
  • I’m learning about tax at the moment with my accountant – pffffff! I use the NHS, I can’t use public transport any more, doing what I do, I went to state school, I’m mortified to have to pay 50 per cent! Trains are always late, most state schools are shit and I’ve gotta give you like four million quid, are you ‘avin a laugh? When I got my tax bill in from 19 I was ready to go ‘n’ buy a gun and randomly open fire.
