He is a former professional basketball player in the NBA with the Portland Trail Blazers (2006-2011) and Minnesota Timberwolves (2012-2013). Roy was Rookie of the Year in 2007 and appeared in the NBA All-Star on three occasions (2008-2010). He has earned most of his money by playing in the NBA. Brandon Roy grew up in his hometown Seattle, and went to the African-American Academy, elementary school. Brandon Roy had an excellent rookie season in the NBA and was a Rookie of the Month in January, February, and March 2007. He finished the season with 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game, and was awarded Rookie of the Year with 126 of 127 votes. Roy was only the third Blazer to have won this honor after Geoff Petrie and Sidney Wicks.

He was the team’s leader in points in the next three seasons, and formed a great partnership with LaMarcus Aldridge during his five years in Portland.
