Hélio Castro Neves Wiki Biography

Helio Castroneves was born on the 10th May 1975, in São Paulo, Brazil, and is a racing driver; he has won the Indianapolis 500 three times in 2001, 2002 and 2009. Castroneves has been active in the racing industry since 1998.

How much is the net worth of Helio Castroneves? Authoritative sources report that the outright size of his wealth is over $30 million, as of the data presented in the middle of 2016. Racing is the main source of Castroneves fortune.

To begin with, the boy was raised in São Paulo, with his sister, Kati, who represents his business interests, and travels everywhere with him.

Helio Castroneves began karting at the age of fourteen, and after gaining experience in various types of cars, in 1995 he took part in the British Formula 3 Championship, and drove for the team of Paul Stewart, winning the race at Donington Park. In 1996 he moved to the USA, where he raced in the Indy Lights series. A year later, he was 2nd in the overall standings, just four points behind the winner Tony Kanaan.

In 1998, Castroneves moved to the Bettenhausen team and participated in the former Champ Car championship, and a year later he moved to Hogan Racing, yet both teams did not have reliable cars, and he was not able to produce the expected results. In 2000, he was asked to join the Penske team to replace Greg Moore, the Canadian driver who crashed in the final race of 1999. Helio won three races that year, and the following year he succeeded in winning the championship, including the Indianapolis 500. In 2002, he moved to the IndyCar Series, and in his first full season he won two races, again including at Indianapolis, and finished second in the championship. In the next five years he won nine races overall and finished 3rd twice, once in 4th place, and twice in 6th place in the championship. In his seventh season, he was in 2nd place in the final rankings.

In 2009, he could not appear at the start of the championship because he had problems concerning a charge of tax evasion and therefore was not at the start of the first race in Saint Petersburg. After he was cleared of all charges, a day later he took part in practice for the race at Long Beach, the second race of the season, and finished the race in 7th place. That year Castroneves won the Indianapolis 500 for the third time in his career. Up to date, Helio now holds the record for the most number of starts in IndyCar, at 318, and for the number of top 10 finishes at 167.

In addition to being a great racing driver, he participated in and became the winner of the fifth edition of the television show “Dancing with the Stars” (2007); he won with his dance partner Julianne Hough in the final against candidates Melanie Brown and Marie Osmond. In 2012, he was again a candidate for the 15th season.

Finally, in the personal life of the racing driver, he is married to Adriana Henao, and they have a daughter named Mikaella, born in 2009. The family resides in Fort Lauderdale.
