Linda Gray Wiki Biography
Linda Gray was born on the 12th September 1940 in Santa Monica, California USA, and is an actress, producer, director, and former model, most probably best known for her role as Sue Ellen Ewing in the CBS cult television drama series “Dallas” (1978-1991); she received an Emmy nomination and two Golden Globes nominations for the role that also significantly increased her net worth. Gray’s career started in 1963.
Have you ever wondered how rich Linda Gray is as of mid-2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Linda’s net worth is as high as $5 million, an amount earned through her successful career on both television and film. In addition to being a popular actress, Linda has also worked as a producer, director, and previously she was a model during her 20’s, which laid the basis of her wealth.
Linda Ann Gray was born to Marjorie and Leslie Gray, who was a watchmaker and had a shop in Culver City, California where Linda grew up. She went to the Dale Carnegie School. Linda began as a model in the 60’s and also made over 400 television commercials which generated a lot of money to her bank account early in her career. In the meantime, she studied at Notre Dame Academy in Culver City.
Her acting debut came in 1963 in “Under the Yum Yum Tree” in which she had a minor role, and also in “Palm Springs Weekend” (1963). Linda had to wait for more than ten years before she was cast in a TV movie – “The Big Rip-Off” (1975) starring Tony Curtis. She later appeared in “Dogs” (1976), “Murder in Peyton Place” (1977), and “The Grass Is Always Greener Over the Septic Tank” (1978) before scoring her most notable role in the series drama “Dallas” (1978-1991).
Gray was quite busy in the ’80’s due to her hectic schedule in “Dallas”, but also managed to appear in Michael Tuchner’s “Haywire” (1980), “The Wild and the Free” (1980), “Not in Front of the Children” (1982), and “Kenny Rogers as The Gambler, Part III: The Legend Continues” (1987). In the 90’s, Linda had parts in John Landis’ “Oscar” (1991) starring Sylvester Stallone and in numerous TV movies, including “Highway Heartbreaker” (1992), “Moment of Truth: Why My Daughter?” (1993), “Accidental Meeting” (1994), and “Moment of Truth: Broken Pledges” (1994) – her net worth grew accordingly.
Linda had notable roles in TV series “Melrose Place” (1994) and “Models Inc.”(1994), and by the end of the 90’s, Linda played in “Dallas: J.R. Returns” (1996), “Dallas: War of the Ewings” (1998), and “Star of Jaipur” (1998), which only increased her net worth. Gray decided to take a break from acting in the 2000’s, so she hasn’t appeared as frequently as she used to. However, Linda did play in six episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2004-2005), and then appeared in “McBride: It’s Murder, Madam” (2005). Five years later she featured in “Expecting Mary”, and in 2011 appeared in “The Flight of the Swan”, and “Hidden Moon” in 2012, adding further to her net worth.
Linda Gray again played Sue Ellen Ewing in the remake of series “Dallas” (2012-2014), appearing in 40 episodes. Most recently, she had roles in “A Perfect Wedding” (2015), “Winterthorne” (2015), and “Significant Mother” (2015), which has also added a considerable amount to her net worth.
Gray owns a production company called LG Productions, Inc., and was voted “Woman of the Year” in 1982 from the Hollywood Radio and Television Society.
Regarding her personal life, Linda Gray was married to famous art director and photographer Ed Trasher from 1962 to 1983, and they have two children together. Linda’s younger sister, Betty, died of breast cancer in 1989. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
