Vlade Divac was born on the 3rd February 1968, in Prijepolj, SFR Yugoslavia, now Serbia. He is a former professional basketball player and currently the general manager and vice president of basketball operations of the Sacramento Kings in the NBA. As a member of Yugoslavian as well as Serbian and Montenegro national teams, Divac won two world championships and three European Championships. He was among the first players from the former Yugoslavia, who played in the professional American league the NBA. Since 2009, Divac has been the President of NOK Serbia.

The following season, the player suffered from a herniated disc and missed half of the season yet remained the undisputed backbone of the franchise. In 1996, after the arrival of Shaquille O’Neal, the Lakers decided to exchange Divac with the Charlotte Hornets against a first round pick that would enable them to acquire the rights to Kobe Bryant.
During the lockout of the 1998 – 1999 season, he joined his country and played a few months for Red Star Belgrade. After two years with the Hornets, Vlade became a free agent, and signed with the Sacramento Kings in which team he collaborated with his compatriot Peja Stojaković. In 2004, he signed a contract with the Lakers. However, because of back problems he only played five games, and as a result, the player decided to retire from the professional sport. Finally, in the personal life of the former professional player, he has been married to Snezana(Anna) since 1989, and with whom he has two sons. In addition to this, the family adopted a girl whose parents were killed during the break-up of Yugoslavia.
