Javaris Crittenton Cortez was born on the 31st December 1987, in Atlanta, Georgia, USA and is a former professional player of basketball who played two seasons in the NBA. Crittenton played basketball professionally from 2007 to 2011. He is currently serving a sentence of 23 years in prison for a manslaughter committed in 2011.

He averaged 14.4 points, 3.7 rebounds and 5.8 assists. He was named Rookie of the Week three times in the ACC. He scored his maximum of 29 points in the game against Florida State at the beginning of 2007.
Talking about his professional career, Crittenton was chosen 19th in the1st round of the NBA draft 2007 by the LA Lakers, then traded alongside Kwame Brown and Aaron McKie to Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for Pau Gasol. At the end of 2008 he was traded to the Washington Wizards, and in 2009, he received a suspension by NBA for a misdemeanour involving mutual threats with guns with a colleague.
Subsequently, in 2010 he played in the team of Zhejiang Lions in China, then in 2011, Javaris played for the Dakota Wizards in the D-League.
The player, who has already been suspended by the NBA in 2009, was arrested in late 2011 at an airport in California. He was accused of the death of a 22 year old mother of four children, who was shot from a car. In the spring of 2015, Crittenton was sentenced to 23 years in prison for this crime.
