He also holds the record for rushing 200 yards in three games which is yet to be broken.

A strong and swift football player holding different records yet to be broken, one might wonder how rich is he actually? As estimated by sources, Campbell has a net worth of $25 million as of early 2016. Earl has earned his riches mainly from his career as an American Football player. Described as a “one-man demolition team”, he was a feared runner of his time. Campbell was a punishing runner, who with the help of his strong legs could make some killer dashes that could inflict damage on the opposing team’s defensive morale. Even until today, short running backs are occasionally termed “Little Earl”. His time with the Houston Oilers (1978-1984) and New Orleans Saints (1984-1985) has made him famous and rich as well.

Regarding his early life, Campbell was the sixth of eleven children – he was just 11 years old when his father died. He started playing football as a kicker in fifth grade, but a year later he went on to become a running back; it was the position that Campbell would play later in his professional career. In 1973 he led John Tyler High School to the Texas 4A State Championship. He was seen by many as the player who could have gone straight to NFL from high school, and become a star player in no time.

His professional career began at the Houston Oilers where he was the first NFL Draft pick in 1978, and signed a contract for $1.4 million. That year he went on to become the offensive rookie of the year. With his rare combination of speed and power, he gave outstanding performances from his first seasons in the team. He played for six years in Houston Oilers, and then in 1984 he signed a contract with the New Orleans Saints where he played in a diminished role for a year and then retired. Campbell won the Heisman Trophy in 1977, and was the lead runner with 1,744 yards. He was the first recipient of the Davey O’Brien Memorial Trophy in 1977. Earl has other several trophies from his career, and was also inducted in the Pro Football Hall Of Fame on July 27, 1991.

Earl is now President of his company Earl Campbell Meat Products, manufacturing and selling smoked sausage, and other products including barbecue sause, which all adds to Campbell’s net worth.

Regarding his personal life, due to his NFL career and numerous hits and knock downs during games, Campbell now has difficulty walking, and sometimes needs to use a wheelchair. He has been married to Reuna since 1980, and they have two sons – Christian played football for the University of Houston. Tyler was a running back for the San Diego State but had to stop playing due to Multiple Sclerosis. Tyler now spends his time raising awareness about multiple sclerosis. So with a net worth of $25 million, Earl Campbell, an NFL legend, now lives a successful, happy and wealthy life with his family.
