Adonal David Foyle Wiki Biography

Adonal David Foyle was born on 9 March 1975, in Canouan, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He is a retired professional basketball player, best known as a center for the Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

So just how wealthy is Adonal Foyle? Sources state that Foyle has acquired a net worth of over $20 million, as of mid-2017. The main source of his fortune has been his involvement in basketball, as well as his subsequent writing career.

Foyle was adopted by university professors Joan and Jay Mandle when he was 15 years old. He attended Cardinal O’Hara Catholic High in Springfield, Pennsylvania, and later transferred to Hamilton Central School in Hamilton, New York. He began to play football during his high school days, helping the Hamilton’s team Emerald Knights to win their first two state championships. He then enrolled at Colgate University in New York, joining it’s football team, the Colgate Raiders, and becoming its all-time leading rebounder and second all-time leading scorer. He set the NCAA record with 492 career blocks, ranking third all-time. He graduated magna cum laude with a degree in History in 1999.

Foyle was selected in the first round as the eighth overall pick by the Golden State Warriors in the 1997 NBA Draft; his net worth was at its start. He went on to set the Warriors franchise record for blocked shots at 1,140. In 2004 the team re-signed him to a six-year, $42 million deal, which boosted his wealth. However, he was waived by the Warriors in 2007.

Later that year he joined the Orlando Magic, signing for the veteran minimum of $1.3 million, and then re-signing for another year in 2008. His net worth grew larger.

In 2009 the Magic traded Foyle to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2009, but he was waived by the team shortly after. He returned to the Orlando Magic, remaining with the team until 2010. However, his performance with the Magic was limited due to a knee surgery, and Foyle retired from professional basketball in 2010. Over the course of his 13-season career in the NBA, he averaged 4.1 points and 1.6 blocks per game, being one of the ten highest players in blocks per game three times. This enabled him to reach stardom and to acquire a sizable fortune, earning over $60 million in salaries from the three teams he played with.

Although retired, Foyle’s involvement in the sport did not stop there. Later in 2010, he became the director of player development for the Magic, holding the position until 2012, which further enhanced his net worth. Foyle is also a member of the National Basketball Players Association Executive Committee and the Community Ambassador for the World Champion Golden State Warriors.

Aside from basketball, he has also been involved in writing poems, and reviews books for HOOP Magazine. He has also written several books, among them the 2013 children’s book “Too Tall Foyle Finds His Game”, and the 2015 “Winning the Money Game: Lessons Learned From the Financial Fouls of Pro Athletes” , covering the financial management of athletes. His writing career has been another source of his wealth.

The former player has also been involved in the entertainment industry, making a cameo appearance in the 2006 adventure comedy film “The Darwin Awards”.

As for his private life, Foyle keeps it away from public view, thus, sources lack any details about it.

The former player is a devoted philanthropist, having founded the Kerosene Lamp Foundation, which provides help to children in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. He has also supported many charitable causes, such as the Good Tidings Foundation, Northern Lights Elementary School and the Take Wings Foundation. His involvement in charity has earned him the induction into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.

Foyle is a political activist too, who founded the non-profit, non-partisan student organization called Democrary Matters in 2001, focused on deepening and strengthening democracy, and its primary concern is finance reform involved with election campaigns, particularly Clean Elections.
