According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Willie’s net worth is over $26 million, accumulated through his successful involvement in the sports industry not only as a professional football player, but also as a coach and administrator.
Willie Brown spent his childhood in his hometown, where he attended Yazoo City High School and began playing football. Upon matriculation, he enrolled at Grambling State University, where he continued playing football, for the college team. Although he distinguished himself as a football player, he was not drafted until he finished with his education there in 1963, when he graduated with a BA degree in Health and Physical Education.
Nevertheless, right after graduation Willie’s professional football career began, as he signed a contract with the Houston Oilers of the American Football League (AFL) as a free agent, which marked the beginning of his net worth. However, by the end of the summer training camp, he had transferred to the Denver Broncos, signing a rookie contract. He made his debut in the position of a starter by mid-season, then during his second season in the game against the New York Jets, he set an individual record of all time which earned him All-AFL honors and participation in the AFL All-Star Game, when he made nine interceptions for 144 yards.
The 1967-1968 season Willie began as a part of the Oakland Raiders, which added a considerable amount to his net worth. He finished his professional playing career after the 1977-1978 season, having 54 interceptions returned for 472 yards and two touchdowns.
Thanks to his accomplishment in the sports industry, Willie was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1984. Beside that, he also selected a member of the American Football League All-Time Team.
In addition to his playing career as a professional footballer, Willie became a defensive backfield coach for the Oakland Raiders in 1979, staying in the position until 1988, and three years later was hired as the head coach for the Long Beach State 49ers, increasing his net worth by a large margin.
