Alex O’Loughlin Wiki Biography

Alex O’Loughlin was born on the 24th August 1976. The Australian actor is best known for appearing in his current hit TV series “Hawaii Five-0”.

Authoritative sources indicate that O’Loughlin has an estimated net worth of $7 million as of early 2016, due to his various TV series and movie deals. Sources says that he makes $115,000 per episode of “Hawaii Five-0”.

Growing up in Canberra, Australia, O’Loughlin suffered asthma, ADHD and obsessive-compulsive disorder, however, these limitations didn’t stop him from enrolling at National Institute of Dramatic Art, in Sydney, Australia in 1999, and in 2002, O’Loughlin graduated with a Bachelor of Dramatic Art degree.

The actor was a consistent face in Australian television, with shows like “Love Bytes” and “White Collar Blue”, but it was in 2004 that O’Loughlin got his first lead role, in the movie “Oyster Farmer”. Other projects that slowly built his career and net worth are the movies “Man-Thing”, “Feed” and the mini-series “The Incredible Journey of Mary Bryant”, in which his acting was recognized by Australian Film Institute Awards and the Logie Awards.

In 2007, O’Loughlin invaded American shores when he was included in the television series “The Shield”, with the actor increasing his net worth and fame when he played the character of Detective Kevin Hiatt In the hit TV show. Later on he left the strike team when he was cast in the lead role in the TV series “Moonlight”, playing the role of Mick St. John, a private investigator turned vampire by the character of Coraline, played by actress Shannyn Sossamon in the ‘50’s, but his lifeless character met its match when investigative reporter played by Sophia Myles came intothe picture. Although the series was a huge hit, it only lasted for a season, no matter how hard the fans fought for it to have a longer life. Regardless, his net worth was rising.

O’Loughlin was once again cast in another lead role in the series “Three Rivers” in 2009. Unfortunately, the hospital drama only lasted for two seasons. While on TV break, he tried the movie scene with star Jennifer Lopez in the movie “The Back-up Plan.”

After Three Rivers, CBS once again cast O’Loughlin, this time for the remake of the classic “Hawaii Five-0”. The series, in which O’Loughlin played the role of Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett, proved to be a hit amongst audience, and getting him and it recognized by different award giving bodies. It not only increased O’Loughlin’s popularity, but his value, net worth as well. Hawaii Five-0 is still generating much popularity and following up until today.

In his personal life, O’Loughlin was in a relationship with Australian actress and singer Holly Valance, but they separated in 2009. He then met his wife-to-be Malia Jones – their son Lion O’Loughlin was born in 2012, and a couple of years later the two tied the knot. The couple together with their children (aside from their son Lion, the two each have their own sons from previous relationships) are now residing in Hawaii.

Alex O’Loughlin Quotes

  • There were times I was thinking, ‘What am I doing, this is crazy’. I was scared because I had no money and no ticket home. That is the time when everyone else packs up and leaves. But I remembered everything my grandfather taught me about the work ethic before he died. He was brought up out in the bush and his advice was ‘put your head down and keep working, son, and you’ll get what’s coming to you’. You just push through.
  • Losing my anonymity in this world I think is something that I find terrifying (June 16 2005).
  • I am a big fan of vampires. I’ve always been obsessed with the genre, and the beautiful romanticism and erotic kind of nature of the immortal being, the undead who lives on human blood.
