William James O’Brien Wiki Biography

William James O’Brien was born on 23 October 1969, in Dorchester, Massachusetts USA, and is a professional American Football coach, best known as the head coach of the National Football League (NFL) team, the Houston Texans. He’s been serving as a coach since 1993, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.

Bill attended St. John’s Preparatory School, and after matriculating went to Brown University. He played for the Brown Bears as a defensive end and linebacker from 1990 to 1992.

After graduating, O’Brien got his first coaching position at his alma mater in 1993, coaching tight ends; the following year he started coaching inside linebackers. Afterwards, he moved to Georgia Tech for the next three seasons as an offensive graduate assistant. From 1998, he coached the Yellow Jackets’ running backs for three seasons before serving as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2001. After a year, he was hired as offensive coordinator by Notre Dame, then moved to the University of Maryland to be a running backs coach. He spent two seasons there and would then become the offensive coordinator at Duke. His teams performed well under his coaching, so all of these opportunities increased his net worth.

In 2007, Bill was hired by the New England Patriots as an offensive assistant, and after a year was promoted to become the wide receivers coach; the following season, he became the quarterbacks coach and offensive play-caller. Eventually, he showed interest in going back to the NFL after Houston Texans head coach Gary Kubiak was fired. He met with the Texans and would become their head coach in 2014; he narrowly missed the playoffs in his first season, then won the AFC South title in his second season, continuing the streak in the next year.
