Amy Macdonald Wiki Biography
Amy Elizabeth Macdonald was born on the 25th August 1987, in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, Scotland, and is a singer – songwriter and guitar player, best known to the world for her hit songs “This Is the Life”, and “Mr. Rock & Roll”, among other creations. So far, she has released four studio albums, all of which were both commercial and critical successes.
Have you ever wondered how rich Amy Macdonald is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Macdonald’s net worth is as high as $9 million, earned through her successful career in the music industry, which began in 2007.
Amy grew up with her sister in her hometown and went to Bishopbriggs High School. In 2000, she visited T in the Park Festival where she heard the Scottish rock band Travis, which inspired her to start pursuing a musical career. She bought a chord book of the band and began playing songs on her father’s guitar, being just 12 years old. In no time Amy began writing music and lyrics of her own, and just three years later became a regular performer in Glasgow pubs and coffee houses, including the well-known Brunswick Cellars on Sauchiehall Street.
Her next step was a demo CD sent to a new production company started by Pete Wilkinson and Sarah Erasmus. Pete was stunned by Amy the moment he heard her voice, and brought her to his own studio to record an album, then arranged a recording deal with Vertigo in 2007.
Amy’s debut album came out the same year, entitled “This Is the Life”, and immediately became a complete success. The album topped the UK charts, and achieved triple platinum status in the UK, which only increased her net worth and popularity as well.
Encouraged by the success of her first release, Amy continued writing new songs, and in 2010 released her second album – “A Curious Thing” – which reached No. 4 on the UK chart, but topped the charts in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The album sold less than her first, but still achieved gold status in the UK, and double platinum in Germany and Switzerland, further increasing her net worth. Just two years later, Amy released her third album – “Life in a Beautiful Light” – which reached No. 2 on the UK chart, and then took a break from recording until 2016, when she returned to the studio, and started working on her fourth album in November which finally came out in February 2017. Entitled “Under Stars”, it reached No. 2 on the UK chart, and received positive critiques, but has actually so far been her lowest selling album, although her net worth continues to rise..
Regarding her personal life, Amy was engaged to football (soccer) player Steve Lovell, however, the two broke up in 2012. In 2016 she announced her engagement to Richard Foster, also a football player.
