Jaikishen Kakubhai Shroff Wiki Biography
Jaikishen Kakubhai Shroff was born on 1 February 1957, in Udgir, Maharashtra, India, and is an actor, best known for his work in Hindi/Bollywood cinema for around four decades. He’s appeared in over 200 films in 10 languages such as Konkani, Tamil, Bengali, Punjabi, and Kannada. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Jackie Shroff? As of early-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $26 million, mostly earned through a successful career as an actor. He has also ventured into business and has won numerous awards over the course of his career, and as he continues, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Early in his career, Shroff worked as a local toughie. He appeared in several advertisements and also did modelling work. Eventually, he would make his acting debut in 1982’s “Swami Dada” directed by Dev Anand, and a couple of the film’s songs would gain popularity. This led Shroff to get his first lead role in the film “Hero”, in which he was paired opposite Meenakshi Seshadri who was Miss India 1981 – director Subhash Ghai would give Shroff the name “Jackie” and the film would propel him to stardom. His net worth also increased significantly.
So Jackie continued to work in Subhash Ghai films no matter the role; one of the successful films he was a part of during this time include “Andar Bahaar” or “Iniside and Outside”. He was also part of the Jainendra Jain film “Jaanoo” – which is a Bollywood film – and “Yodh”, which was another success.
In 1986, Jackie was cast in the film “Karma’ which would become the highest grossing film of the year; the Bollywood domestic drama film cast Jackie opposite Dimple Kapadia. Shroff was also cast in the Pakistani drama series “Dehleez” and “Sachche Ka Bol-Bala” – both films would gain critical acclaim but would fail at the box office.
Some of the awards Jackie has won during the course of his career include the Filmfare Award for Best Actor in the film “Parinda”, and a Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for “1942: A Love Story” and “Rangeela”. In 2007, he won a Special Honour Jury Award for Outstanding Contribution to Indian Cinema, and also won The Original Rockstar GQ in 2014. He was also seen in the Hiru Golden Film Awards 2016 held in Sri Lanka.
Aside from his acting work, Jackie owns an organic farm, growing organic herbs, trees, and plants.
For his personal life, it is known that Jackie married longtime girlfriend and film producer Ayesha Dutt in 1967. They have two children, one of whom is Bollywood actor Tiger Schroff. The couple owns the media company Jackie Shroff Entertainment Limited. They were also 10% shareholders in Sony TV before selling their stock in 2012, after being associated with Sony TV for 15 years. Jackie was a part of the opening of the Jaldhaara Foundation, aimed at providing safe drinking water worldwide.
