David Duval Wiki Biography
David Robert Duval is an American professional golfer who was born on 9 November 1971 in Jacksonville, Florida USA, and is former world number one on the PGA Tour.
So how rich is David Duval? Sources estimate that David’s net worth is over $19.5 million; he has earned his wealth during his long career as professional golfer since 1995.
David was raised in Jacksonville largely by his golf instructor and club professional father Bob, as his parents separated in 1982 but David continued learning how to play golf under his father’s hands. In the year 1989 David graduated from the Episcopal high school of Jacksonville.
David won his first Championship when he became the US Junior Amateur champion in 1982, he joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets men’s golf team where he kept going in his amateur career, with his team he won first team All-American for four times and ACC Player of the year twice, and was National Player of the year in 1993, while he was still in the college.
David turned professional, and won on the Nike Tour twice which was a good start to his net worth. Then he earned his PGA Tour card in 1995, and succeeded quickly as he had seven second places on the PGA Tour between 1995 and 1997, and also qualified for the President Cup team in 1996, winning all his four games. In 1997 David won the Michelob Championship at Kingsmil, and progressed further in 1998 when he led the PGA Tour money list – he places second in ’97 and ’99 – and also won the Byron Nelson Award and Vardon Trophy for lowest scoring average in the same year. Obviously his net worth increased significantly.
Overall from 1997 to 2001 David won 13 PGA Tournaments, his last win being the 2001 US Open Championship. In the year 2000, he won World Cup partnering Tiger Woods, and later in 2001 he won Dunlop Phoenix in Japan. He played in the winning Ryder Cup team of 1999, and in the year 2002. Of course all these achievements added considerably to David’s net worth.
David had a break from the game in the year 2003, for a lot of reasons such as shoulder problems, or back and wrist injuries, but in 2004 David came back to play the US Open, and continued to play over the next several years, but without notable success, his best finish being a second place in the 2006 US Open. His net worth still rose steadily, but in the year 2007 Duval disappeared from the West Coast Swing, in the same year his mother died and his wife was having problems during her pregnancy. In February 2009 David made cut at the AT&TP Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. However he came back strongly at the US Open at Bethpage Black.
2010 was good season for Duval as he kept his tour card at the end of the year, 2001 season was tough from Duval as he made only nine cuts in 24 events which made him lose his Tour card. Via Duval’s Twitter he announced that the 2014 PGA Tour will be the last in his career, and he has moved more into commentating on and analysing tournaments.
In his personal life, David broke up with his girlfriend Julie McArthur in 2002 after eight years together, then in 2003 he met Susan Persichitte and they eventually married in 2008. Susan has custody of three children she had with her ex-husband.
