Zoe McLellan Wiki Biography
Zoe Doran McLellan was born on the 6th November 1974, in La Jolla, California USA, and is a film and television actress, probably best known for her role as Petty Officer Jennifer Coates in the legal television drama JAG (2001-2005). Her career started in 1994, with a small part in the film “Imaginary Crimes”, starring Harvey Keitel.
Have you ever wondered how rich Zoe McLellan is as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Huston’s net worth is as high as $5 million, an amount earned through her successful career in acting.
Zoe McLellan was raised in Washington State after her parents divorced. She has a brother, Nathan, as well as a half-sister, Cassie, from her mother’s later marriage, and a half-brother, Jeremy, on her father’s side; he is of Irish heritage. When she was a mere child, she expressed a desire to be an actress, but she first graduated from South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard, Washington, in the class of 1992; there, she was crowned a Homecoming Queen. During this time, she also took acting classes and appeared in theatre, in preparation for her Hollywood career. After finishing school, she moved to Los Angeles to further pursue acting.
Zoe’s breakthrough role came in 1996, when she guest-starred in the science fiction television series “Sliders”, playing an antagonist named Logan St. Clare. Although she appeared only once, the show’s fans considered her to be the best villain of the series. Zoe built her career slowly, through numerous guest-starring roles and a few movie parts. She played Sandy in the 1997 coming-of-age film “Inventing the Abbotts”, which starred Liv Tyler, Joaquin Phoenix, Billy Crudup, and Jennifer Connelly. Later on, she took one of the main roles in the fantasy film “Dungeons & Dragons” (2000), based on the role-playing game of the same name. While the film was a critical and commercial failure, Zoe had several television projects to fall back on. She appeared in two science fiction television shows, the first being “Star Trek: Voyager” (2000), and the second being “The Invisible Man” (2000-2001).
Next came one of her most notable roles to date, that of Petty Officer First Class Jennifer “Jen” Coates in the CBS procedural drama “JAG” (2001-2005). She started out in a recurring role, from season seven to season nine, and was then incorporated to a series regular in season ten. After her tenure on “JAG” ended, Zoe soon found herself in another starring role, this time in the prime time drama series “Dirty Sexy Money” (2007-2009), alongside Peter Krause and Donald Sutherland. In 2010, she guest-starred in several TV shows, such as the medical drama “House, M.D.”, comedy drama “Royal Pains”, and drama/mystery show “The Mentalist”. For the next couple of years, she took a break from acting to focus on her family, but returned triumphantly with a starring role in the “NCIS” spin-off, “NCIS: New Orleans” (2014-2016). She also appeared in “NCIS” (2014; 2016), first in the two-episode back door pilot for the spin-off, and then in a crossover episode two years later.
Zoe continues to act, recently taking guest roles in the police procedural show “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” (2017), as well as in the comedy drama “Suits” (2017). Her net worth is still rising!
When it comes to her private life, Zoe married J.P. Gillain in 2012, with whom she has one child, but the couple divorced in 2016. In her free time, she enjoys travelling, singing, songwriting, and pop music, especially Katy Perry.

Zoe McLellan Quotes
- I lived in New York City for a while and miss it like it’s a person. Although I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, I’m a New Yorker at heart. A stroll through Central Park, a visit to the MET, a show on Broadway. There is no other city like it in the world!
- I’m a big fan of Katy Perry.
- I came to L.A. with confidence in my craft, and I was very offended when I didn’t get a part. It took me awhile to understand that it is not always about your acting.
- I don’t necessarily call myself a psychic, but since I was a little girl, I would dream about things, and then I would tell my dad, and it would happen the next day.
- Growing up in Seattle, I had the opportunity to take classes since I was 7 years old. I did theatre. I auditioned for film, television, commercials, and built up not just a resume but also some confidence. I learned how to master my craft before arriving in Los Angeles.
- When I travel, there are no rules with my diet. I eat whatever looks good, but in small portions. Food is such a rich part of the travel experience. There is no way I would cut that out!
- We can quiet our minds enough to tune in to what our bodies are telling us – I believe in angels – and we need to listen to the messages being sent. They are real messages – just as real as a human saying something to you.
- I remember my very first audition for a film. I was in Seattle. They were taping the session, and I just went crazy. The director finally said, ‘Zoe, what are you doing? The camera’s right here. Just talk to me.’ And it took that director saying that to me to change everything.
- I loved ‘Dirty Sexy Money.’ That didn’t have a long enough shelf life. I would’ve liked to explore that character and play with that cast longer. That was a lot of fun to shoot.
- One of the most precious parts of acting is the work before you show up on the set, the time you spend being with your character before you bring that character to life. To me, that’s the most rewarding part of it all. It feels very good to show up on a set just knowing that’s with you.
- I dream in numbers, and I like to look up the meaning of numbers, and numbers stick out to me.
- I want to do a romantic comedy. Like a ‘When Harry Met Sally’ romantic comedy… A really sweet, show-my-vulnerability kind of role.
- As a child, we visited the San Juan Islands during the summer. Kayaking, big family meals, playing on the beach – great memories!
- I’m a big fan of a great glass of red wine and a delicious bowl of pasta made from scratch.
- First acting gig was playing a victim in ‘America’s Most Wanted.’ The night the show aired, they caught the killer!
