Will Herthie Shields was born on the 15th September 1971, in Fort Riley, Kansas USA, and is a retired professional American Football offensive guard, who spent his entire playing career with the Kansas City Chiefs from, 1993 until 2006.

Will went to Lawton High School, located in the town of Lawton in Oklahoma. While there he played for the high school football team, and after matriculation enrolled at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During his college years, he played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team from 1989-92, and won the Outland Trophy in 1992, and was a Consensus All-American the same year.
In the 1993 NBA Draft he was selected as the 74th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs, and played for the franchise until his retirement in 2006. During his stint at Kansas, Will played in every single game, which is now the second longest active consecutive starting streak in the NFL- 231 including post-season games – now superseded by the Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Brett Favre.
During his career, Will blocked for such running backs as Marcus Allen, Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson. He was one of the integral parts of the Chiefs’ offensive line that consistently finished in the top five in rushing offense.
