Wayne Newton Wiki Biography
Carson Wayne Newton, simply known as Wayne Newton, is a famous American actor, entertainer, as well as a singer. Often referred to as “Mr. Entertainer” or “The Midnight Idol”, Wayne Newton is perhaps best known for his popular singles that brought him national fame, namely “Years”, “Red Roses for a Blue Lady” and “Daddy, Don’t You Walk So Fast”. The latter song is Newton’s highest charting hit, as it peaked at #4 on Billboard 200, and reached #3 on the adult contemporary chart. However, the song that Newton is most notable for was released in 1963 under the name of “Danke Shoen”, which was a re-recorded version of Bert Kaempfert’s song. Newton’s version of the song peaked at #13 on the Billboard Pop chart and became most beloved by his audience and the most often used song in the media. It was featured in a variety of television commercials, as well as films, including “Meet the Parents” with Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson and Robert De Niro, “Fools Rush” with Matthew Perry and Salma Hayek, “Vegas Vacation” with Chevy Chase, and regained its fame after being used in the soundtrack of “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” with Matthew Broderick.
A famous singer and entertainer, how rich is Wayne Newton? According to sources, Wayne Newton’s net worth is estimated to be $100 million.
Carson Wayne Newton was born in 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia, but spent most of his childhood in Roanoke, where he learned how to play various musical instruments, such as guitar and piano. Newton’s family used to move a lot, until they finally settled in Phoenix, Arizona, where he studied at North High School. Around the same time, Newton with his brother was performing at various local events and they eventually formed a group together under the name of “Rascals in Rhythm”. The brothers were then invited to appear on the “Lew King Rangers Show”, where they were noticed by an agent who booked them an audition in Las Vegas, and even though they were initially signed for two weeks only, the brothers spent five years there performing various shows.
Their local success granted them an opportunity to appear among some of the best known performers, including Jack Benny who asked Newton to be an opening act during one of his shows. Soon enough, Wayne Newton hosted his first pay-per-view event entitled “Wayne Newton Live in Concert”, which only contributed to Newton’s growing fame and net worth. Ever since then, Wayne Newton has been making on screen appearances and was a guest on such shows as “The Price is Right” with Drew Carey, “Dancing with the Stars”, “Larry King Live” with Larry King, and others.
For his contributions to the entertainment industry, Wayne Newton was inducted into the Gaming Hall of Fame, awarded a Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service, and even had one of the roads in Las Vegas named “Wayne Newton Boulevard” in his honor.
A famous entertainer, Wayne Newton has an estimated net worth of $100 million.
