He is a rock guitarist, probably best recognized for being a guitarist with the band Def Leppard, but has also been a member of such rock bands as Dio, Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Riverdogs, etc, as well as a solo artist. His musical career has been active since 1977.

So, have you ever wondered how rich Vivian Campbell is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Vivian’s net worth is over $20 million, accumulated through his successful career in the music industry.

Vivian Campbell’s early life and information about his education is unknown in the media, except that he started to play guitar when he was 12 years old.

Vivian’s professional musical career began in 1977, when he became a member of the NWOBHM (‘the new wave of British heavy metal’) band Sweet Savage. One of their songs, entitled “Killing Time”, was covered by the band Metallica for its single “The Unforgiven”. Their debut release came out in 1981, an EP with their first single “Take No Prisoners”, which marked the beginning of an increase to his net worth.

However, he soon left the bend and in 1983 joined Dio, an American heavy metal band, and their album “Holy Diver” became a tremendous accomplishment by the band, including its biggest hit single “Rainbow In The Dark”. The next album came out in the following year, entitled “The Last In Line”, peaking at No. 23 in the US. They continued successfully throughout the 1980s, releasing albums “Sacred Heart” (1985) – reaching No. 29 in the US – “The Dio E.P.” (1986), and “Intermission” in the same year, all of which added a considerable amount to his net worth.

In 1987, he left Dio, and became the guitarist with Whitesnake, a British hard rock band, replacing John Sykes on the single remix “Give Me All Your Love” (1988), after which he was fired. However, that didn’t stop Vivian for pursuing further his musical dreams. Soon, he played on Lou Gramm’s album “Long Hard Look” (1989), after which he joined the group Riverdogs. The band’s debut self-titled album was released in 1990, and in 2011 they released “World Gone Mad”. During 1991, he was hired again by Gramm to play in his band Shadow King, but he soon quit, and joined Def Leppard.

He joined Def Leppard in 1992 after the release of their album “Adrenalize”, replacing Steve Clark. They released several studio albums by 2000, including “Retro Active” (1993), “Slang” (1996) achieving gold status, and “Euphoria” (1999), achieving gold status as well. In the new millennium, their first album was “X”, which was released in 2002 and which peaked at No. 11 on The Billboard 200. Four years later out came out their next album “Yeah!”, and “Songs From The Sparkle Lounge” in 2008. Most recently, they released a self-titled album in 2015, which reached No. 10 on The Billboard 200, increasing Campbell’s net worth by a large margin.

To speak further about his career, Vivian is also known as a solo artist, who released his studio album “Two Sides Of If” in 2005, which also increased his wealth.

When it comes to his personal life, Vivian Campbell has been married to Caitlin Phaneuf since 2014. Previously, he was married to Julie, with whom he has two daughters. Vivian Patrick Campbell Quotes

  • To me, guitar playing is not just a technical thing. Jeff Beck is the most creative guitar player, I think. What impresses me is not so much how he plays something, but where do it come from? How does he think of it? He seems to be able to pull these ideas from nowhere. He doesn’t seem to think the same as most guitar players.
  • In Leppard, we use a lot of stereo delay. Our tempos are the same every night – Rick Allen is a stickler for tempos, so if a song is 105 BPM we know it will be every night. The sound is very produced, not what you’d call organic, and we do a good job of recreating it live. To ensure that happens, we’re very specific with our delays.
  • [on “Black Rose” by Thin Lizzy] I was a huge Lizzy fan, but I became a massive Gary Moore fan as a result of this. He was a phenomenal influence on me. I heard Gary first in Colosseum II, when he was doing jazz fusion. I was trying to learn his licks but didn’t have enough comprehension of music to understand what he was doing.
