It has been estimated that Wilfork’s net worth is over $25 million; currently his salary is about $19 million per year, so the main source of his wealth is his career as a professional football player and there is little doubt that his net worth will rise as he successfully continues his career.
Vince Wilfork was raised in Boynton Beach by his parents David and Barbara Wilfork – even at only four years-of-age, he said that he wanted to become a professional football player. He attended Santaluces Community High School in Palm Beach County, and although he was very active in many sports activities, such as track and field and wrestling, football was his favorite sport. During high school, Wilfork helped win the District Championship after a last minute victory against Deerfield Beach, and he earned All-Area Football First Team Defense. Thanks to him, in 1999 Santaluces became No.1 in the country for defense, and he won All-American honors.
After high school, he continued to play football for the University of Miami, after which his career as a professional football player started with the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft, in which he was selected by the New England Patriots as the 21st overall pick.
He stayed with the Patriots until the end of 2014 season, building his way up the ladder in football, and winning two Super Bowl Championships, against the Philadelphia Eagles in 2005 and Seattle Seahawks in 2015. Thanks to his great performances, Vince signed a contract extension with Patriots in 2009, worth $40 million overall, with $25 million in guaranteed money, which increased his net worth by a large margin. To speak of his further accomplishments, Vince participated in five Pro-Bowl games – 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, which also added to his net worth, since the players receive a bonus for every appearance. He also has four AFC wins, and in 2012, he was selected for the All-Pro team. To speak of his records, Vince has so far made 538 successful tackles, and has 25 deflected passes.
At the end of the 2014 season, the Patriots decided not to use a team option on Vince`s contract, and he became a free agent. However, he was soon picked up by the Houston Texans, with whom he has signed a two year deal, further increasing his overall wealth.
When it comes to his personal life, Vince Wilfork married Bianca in 2004, with whom he has two sons and a daughter. Their residence is currently in Franklin, Massachusetts. As with many other millionaires, Wilfork is also known for his humanitarian work; he has established “The Vince Wilfork Foundation”, which helps awareness of and research into fighting diabetes.
