Born in an ethnically mixed family, Vanessa has Italian, English and Irish roots. As for her education, Vanessa went to a community college.
Beginning her professional career at the age of seven, her first film was the animated hit, “Finding Nemo” in 1999, in which she gave her voice to one of the characters. Vanessa continued with small roles in popular TV shows like “Malcolm in the Middle”, “Six Feet Under” and “The Brooke Ellison Story” – about a disabled girl overcoming obstacles. In 2002 Vanessa was cast in her first major role in the American police procedural TV drama “Without a Trace”, portraying Hannah Malone along with sister Laura who played her on-screen sister. Her next works were recurring roles in “The Comeback”, “Gilmore Girls” and “Dexter” – appearing again with her sister – and in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, “Grey’s Anatomy” and many others, all of which added consistently to her net worth.

Furthermore Vanessa is one of the youngest members of Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Her personal life has been surrounded by rumors regarding her association with singer Jason Mraz, but that’s it. Until now Vanessa has avoided the media, keeping her private affairs just that, and managing to escape controversy.
