Have you ever wondered how rich Tyron Woodley is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Woodley’s net worth is as high as $4 million, an amount earned through his successful career, which started in 2006. So far, he has amassed a record of 17 wins, three loses and one draw.
Tyron is one of 13 children born to Sylvester and Deborah Woodley, however, he was raised by his mother, since his father left the family soon after the birth of their 13th child. A somewhat troubled childhood didn’t stop Tyron achieving success when he went to McCluer High School, and he was on the honor roll every term, plus received honors in football, while in his wrestling career, Tyron amassed a record of 48 wins without a defeat. Also, he won the state title as a wrestler. After his matriculation in 2000, he received offers from various Universities, and eventually enrolled at the University of Missouri. His first desire was University of Nebraska, but after the head coach of the wrestling team resigned, he changed his decision.
While at the University, Tyron was the captain of the wrestling team in 2003, 2004 and 2005, while in 2003 he became the Big 12 Conference Champion, and received NCAA Division I All-American honors in 2003 and 2005.
Soon after graduation in 2005, Tyron joined a local MMA gym and wanted to participate in the fight card that was scheduled for the next month, and trained with the owner of the gym preparing for his first bout. Tyron won his first fight with just 20 seconds into the match, and recorded seven consecutive wins, without a lost battle. Although only an amateur, Tyron was already showing the skills of a professional fighter. Moving on to the next level, he joined tryouts for the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, but unfortunately, he didn’t make it into the show.
However, he made his professional debut in 2009, when he fought against Steve Schnider in a match organized by Headhunter Productions. The same year he joined Strikeforce and debuted against Sal Woods, whom he defeated in the first round. He continued successfully in Strikeforce, receiving the Rising Star of the Year Award for 2010, defeating such fighters as Zach Light, Nathan Coy, Paul Daley and Jordan Mein, before suffering his first loss against Nate Marquardt for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight Championship.
He then joined UFC in 2013, and fought against Jay Hieron in his debut; after only 36 seconds, Tyron became the winner of the match by KO. Later that year he fought against Josh Koscheck whom he defeated and earned Knockout of the Night honors. Three years after his debut in UFC, Tyron was in the match for the UFC Welterweight Championship, defeating Robbie Lawler in the first round by KO to become the new Welterweight champion, and received Performance of the Night for his skills. He was challenged by Stephen Thompson for the title; the two drew, and title remained in Tyron’s hands. He fought Thompson once again in March this year, and this time Tyron came out victorious.
In recent years, Tyron has also tried himself as an actor; he made his debut in 2015 in the role of Terry ’T-Bone’ Gray in the film “Straight Outta Compton”, starring O’Shea Jackson Jr., Corey Hawkins and Jason Mitchell. Then in 2016 he appeared in the Indian film “Sultan”, while he currently works on films “The Favorite”, and “Office Uprising”, both scheduled for release later in 2017.
Regarding his personal life, Tyron is married to Averi, and the couple has four children together.
Most recently, he has started the youth mentoring program P5 Protocol, which helps empower inner-city male teens and get them off the streets.
