Tucker Carlson Wiki Biography
Tucker Swanson McNear Carlson was born on 16 May 1969, in San Francisco, California USA, and is known for being a political correspondent and personality on television, as well as a journalist. He’s hosted several shows on CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, all of which have contributed to his current net worth.
How rich is Tucker Carlson? Sources tell us that his net worth is estimated at $8 million as of early 2017, most of which is attributed to his journalistic, news and political endeavors. A book and a political news website also help in this regard.
Carlson started his journalism career after graduating from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut with a BA in history. He became a member of the editorial staff for the national conservative journal entitled Policy Review, and later found opportunities working as a reporter for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and The Weekly Standard.
Tucker’s increase in net worth was noticeable after he was hired by CNN. He co-hosted the show “Crossfire”, and was representing the political right. He was also given another opportunity at PBS, hosting the show entitled “Tucker Carlson: Unfiltered”. One of the most significant episodes of “Crossfire” was a heated debate between Tucker Carlson and Jon Stewart in 2004, which spurred many rumors, and was even remarked as one of the reasons the show was cancelled. This was all denied by Tucker however, stating that the strain in the relationship between him and CNN was already in place even before the debate.
He soon found work with MSNBC with a show called “Tucker”. Around this time he also did a wrap-up of the 2006 Winter Olympics for the network, and went to Lebanon in coverage of the 2006 Lebanon War. “Tucker” was eventually cancelled due to low ratings, but he would then find work in 2009 with Fox News, being a contributor for both news and political shows, such as “Red Eye w/ Greg Gutfeld”, “Special Report with Bret Baier”, and he’s also a co-host for “Fox and Friends”. His net worth continued to grow.
Tucker is also a co-creator and editor-in-chief for a political news website called The Daily Caller. Numerous journalists and personalities from different news stations and networks contribute to the site. The website aims to bring different perspectives and breaking stories and is not necessarily tied to an ideology, according to Carlson.
He was also a participant in the fall 2006 edition of “Dancing with the Stars”. He mentioned in an interview that he took the competition seriously and even took ballroom dancing lessons consistently to learn. He was eventually voted off the competition during the September 13th episode.
Tucker also has an autobiography that he authored in 2003. It has the title “Politicians, Partisans and Parasites: My Adventures in Cable News”, and details the unusual experiences in his job as well as humor concerning political figures.
Even with all the popularity and controversy, Tucker retains a somewhat private personal life. He is married to childhood sweetheart Susan Andrews and they have four children. They renovated a farmhouse in Alexandria where they currently reside.

Tucker Carlson Quotes
- [on the September 26, 2003 Crossfire (1982), he told James Carville of North Carolina Senator John Edwards, who became the running mate of John Kerry in the 2004 presidential campaign:] “John Edwards might have been a promising senator. Now, his political career is over. You’re not even going to respond to that, because you know it’s true. … He’s not going to be the nominee and he’s not running for the Senate again. … He’ll go back to chasing ambulances” [from CNN.com transcript].
- [Asked by Elle magazine, “If you had to spend the rest of your life as a woman, who would you be?”] “Elizabeth Birch of the Human Rights Campaign, because you’d be presiding over an organization of thousands of lesbians, some of them quite good-looking.” [The follow-up question: “What do women want?”] “They want to be listened to, protected, and amused. And they want to be spanked vigorously every once in a while.”
- On the September 25, 2003 Crossfire (1982), Carlson said, “Score one for any yuppie community. They’ve won the right to trample on free speech. Congress is bypassing yesterday’s court ruling to put the national do-not-call list on hold and today, passed a new law designed to hang up on telemarketers once and for all. When callers-in dared him to give out his own phone number, Carlson gave a phone number and said, “You can reach me there any time. That’s fine. I’ve defended telemarketers. Feel free to call me. Someone is always there. But the next day, September 26, 2003, he had to confess, “Well, on yesterday’s program on telemarketing, some of you may have seen it. I jokingly gave out what I said was my home phone number. In fact, it was the main number of the Washington bureau of the Fox News Channel. I thought it was funny. Fox did not think it was funny. Apparently, many of our viewers called that number, hoping to speak to me. Instead, they reached a grouchy Fox switchboard operator. Well, to our viewers, I’m sorry I gave you that bad information, even in jest. Last night, Fox responded by posting on its Web site my unlisted home phone number, the phone number where my wife and four small children often answer the phone, as they did last night, during dinner, when the first of several hundred Fox viewers called to scream obscenities at them into the phone. Fox had every right to be annoyed by what I did, amusing as I thought it was. They had no right to invade my privacy or to enable their followers to threaten my family. [from the CNN.com transcripts]
