Tom Ellis Wiki Biography

Thomas John Ellis was born on 17th November 1978 in Cardiff, Wales, UK, and is an actor, probably best known for his roles in the series “The Fades”, “Merlin – The New Adventures” and “Lucifer”. In 2010, he was nominated at the Monte Carlo TV Festival as the Best Supporting Actor for his role in the British comedy series “Miranda”. Ellis has been active in the entertainment industry since 2001.

How much is the net worth of Tom Ellis? It has been reported by authoritative sources that the overall size of his wealth is as much as $12 million, as of the data presented at the beginning of 2018. Television and film are the major sources of Ellis fortune and popularity.

To begin with, the boy was raised in Cardiff, but was educated at the High Storrs School, in Sheffield, and played with the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra, learning the French horn.

Concerning his professional career, he debuted with a small role in the film “The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby” (2001) based on the book of the same name written by Charles Dickens. Ellis then landed minor roles in the feature films “High Heels and Low Lifes” and “Buffalo Solders”, as well as in the television series “Nice Guy Eddie”. Then, he appeared as Ivor in the directorial debut of Craig Ferguson – “I’ll Be There” (2003). The following year, he had small roles in the television series “Messiah III: The Promise” and the feature film “Vera Drake”, then landed episodic roles in the television series “Midsomer Murders” and “Waling the Dead” both in 2005. He was also seen in the television production “No Angels” (2005 – 2006) as Justyn, “EastEnders” (2006) as Dr. Oliver Cousins as well as “The Catherine Tate Show” as Sam Speed. In 2007, Ellis was cast as a main in the satirical black comedy television series “Suburban Shootout”, and afterwards starred alongside Heather Graham and Mia Kirshner in the comedy film “Miss Conception” (2008) by Eric Styles, all adding steadily to his net worth.

Significantly, from 2009 to 2015 Tom Ellis landed one of the lead roles in the television series “Miranda” created by Miranda Hart, meantime interpreting Mark Etches in the supernatural drama “The Fades” (2011), then starred opposite Shaun Dooley in the series “Sugartown” (2011), shared the screen with Joanna Page in the comedy series “Gates” (2012) and landed a main role alongside Suranne Jone in the supernatural drama series “The Secret of Crickley Hall” (2012). In 2014, the actor landed the lead role in the medical drama series “Rush”, aired on the USA Network, and since 2015 he has been the main character – Lucifer Morningstar – in the fantasy police drama series “Lucifer” created by Tom Kapinos. His net worth is certainly still rising.

Finally, in the personal life of the actor, he was married to the actress Tamzin Outhwaite from 2006 to 2014 with whom he has two daughters. Ellis also has another daughter, Nora, born from a previous relationship. Currently, Ellis lives between Los Angeles and Vancouver, due to the work and filming of “Lucifer”, and is officially engaged to the actress and television producer Meaghan Oppenheimer.

Tom Ellis Quotes

  • A lot of actors would tell you that they’d rather play the villain than the hero. When you’re the character, there are no repercussions. So there is a kind of liberating feeling about saying certain things to certain people – and I think that it’s always quite satisfying to do that.
  • Both my daughters are both so unimpressed when they see me on television. I want them to say, ‘Oh, Dad!’ But I say, ‘Who’s that?’ and they say ‘Dad’ with no real interest, even if I’m wearing a long wig and riding on a horse! I think I’ll have to read a CBeebies bedtime story instead.
