Toby Keith Wiki Biography
Toby Keith Covel was born on 8th July 1961, in Clinton, Oklahoma USA. He is a well known country music singer, songwriter and record producer recognised under the stage name Toby Keith. As he has sold more than 30 million records throughout the career, it might be rightly concluded that music is one of the main sources of his net worth, but he adds revenues as a businessman, too. The artist can boast to be the winner of four American Music Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, two Country Music Association and other awards. Toby Keith has been active full time in the industry since 1993.
How rich is Toby Keith? Currently, the size of Toby’s net worth is as much as $320 million, including having earned more than $38 million alone from the sales of his recordings. However, he gets considerable revenues from his restaurant chain “I Love This Bar & Grill”, as well as from “Wild Shot” Mezcal, a double-strength tequila he developed and markets ($60 – $100 million per year).
Following his high school education, Toby worked in the oil industry, but due to the rapid decline in that industry he was soon made redundant. He tried the career of an American football player, but didn’t make the big time. Then Keith focused on music, and through tremendous efforts he managed to get a copy of his recordings to the executive of Mercury Record, Harold Shedd who signed Keith to a contract. That was just what Toby Keith needed, and in 1993 he recorded his first single “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” which was the first step towards a very successful career, as well as the basis to his net worth.
In the 1990s, he released five studio albums which all entered Billboard of Country Music Top 20, and all received certifications for sales. The 2000s were even better, as all eight studio albums reached 1st or 2nd positions on Billboard of Country Music Top 100 and were in the first ten positions of the main music chart as well, and all were certified for sales. In the 2010s, he has released four studio albums and all have appeared in the first three positions of Billboard of Country Music Top 100. Such fantastic success has added significant revenues to the overall size of Toby Keith’s net worth. It is worth mentioning that now the artist owns rich discography containing 60 singles, 17 studio albums, four compilation albums and 49 music videos. He has also organised 16 concert tours to promote his songs. His net worth has continued to grow accordingly.
Furthermore, appearances on television and in films have added to Toby Keith’s popularity as well as his net worth. He participated in the weekly show “Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling” (2002), celebrity roast special “Comedy Central Roast” (2009) and other shows, talks and specials. He landed the lead role alongside Kelly Preston, Lindsey Haun and Burt Reynolds in the music drama film “Broken Bridges” (2006) directed by Steven Goldmann. More, he starred together with Rodney Carrington and Willie Nelson in the comedy film “Beer for My Horses” (2008) directed by Michael Salomon, co-written and co-produced by Toby Keith himself. These projects also added to Keith’s net worth.
Finally, in the private life of Toby Keith, he married Tricia Lucus in 1984. He has fathered two children, and adopted one from Tricia’s previous marriage. Currently, he has two grandchildren. Toby has received an honorary degree from Villanova University which he briefly attended when working in the oil industry, and his philanthropic efforts go towards assisting music education for children.

Toby Keith Trademarks
- His straw cowboy hat
- His bandanna on his head
- Many of his songs are either about having good times or are patriotic and allegedly-right-wing political commentaries, though he is a known Democrat and has supported both Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
Toby Keith Quotes
- I always vote for the guy I think can get it done. And it ain’t nobody’s business who I vote for, but I voted for Clinton twice. And that just blows peoples minds when they hear that.
- Here’s the thing. Just because you’re pro-troops doesn’t mean you’re pro-war. And just because you’re anti-war doesn’t mean you’re anti-troops. Just because you don’t support the war people think you are anti-troops and you are a bad guy. And just because you go support the troops and rah-rah the troops up all of a sudden you’re pro-war. Those are the two biggest misconceptions of the whole thing
