Theodore Raymond “T. R.” Knight Wiki Biography
Theodore Raymond “T. R.” Knight was born on 26 March 1973, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA, and is an actor, best known for his role in the medical television series “Grey’s Anatomy” in which he played the role of Dr. George O’Malley. He’s been active in the industry since 2002, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is T. R. Knight? As of early-2018, sources estimate a net worth that is at $3 million, mostly earned through a successful career as an actor. He’s also appeared in numerous stage productions, and has received nominations for his performances. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
At the age of five, T. R. was already getting involved in acting, participating as a part of the Guthrie Theater. He received a Conners Foundation Scholarship, and later apprenticed at the Children’s Theatre Company. He attended the Academy of Holy Angels, while working at a local Red Owl supermarket. After matriculating, he attended the University of Minnesota, but dropped out to pursue a career in acting, continuing to participate with the Guthrie Theater and had more leading roles.
Knight’s net worth started to increase when he moved to New York City to pursue more stage roles. He appeared in the 2001 Broadway revival of “Noises Off” opposite Patti LuPone, and then in “Tartuffe” as well as the off-Broadway production of “Scattergood”, for which he was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Play. He also starred in the 2004 production of “Boy”, then began getting television roles around this time, including the short-lived series “Charlie Lawrence” which starred Nathan Lane. The following year, he was cast in the medical drama “Grey’s Anatomy” as Dr. George O’Malley, introduced into the show as a surgical intern who worked his way up to the resident level. He developed a good relationship in the show with other cast members including Meredith Grey played by Ellen Pompeo and Cristina Yang played by Sandra Oh, while staying with the show for five seasons until his character was killed off – according to an interview, he was removed from the show due to a lack of screen time which led to a breakdown in communication, but also possibly due to his coming out as gay. Despite that, the show helped his net worth rise quickly – he received great reviews for his performances in the show, and got a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. His death in the show proved controversial for critics and fans.
Since leaving “Grey’s Anatomy”, T. R. returned to working in various stage productions. He appeared in the musical “Parade” as well as the Broadway production of “Life in the Theatre” opposite Patrick Steward.
For his personal life, it is known that Knight married ballet dancer and writer Patrick B. Leahy in 2013, after being in a relationship for three years.
