Born Terrence Jon Francona on the 22nd April 1959, in Aberdeen, South Dakota USA, Terry is a former professional baseball player, and current manager, who has managed the MLB Philadelphia Phillies (1997–2000), Boston Red Sox (2004–2011), and Cleveland Indians (2013- ). Francona won the World Series on two occasions as a manager, in 2004 and 2007 and was named the AL Manager of the Year in 2013 and 2016.

Terry Francona was a son of Tito Francona and Roberta Jackson, and grew up in New Brighton, Pennsylvania, where he went to New Brighton Area High School, and started playing baseball there. He later studied at the University of Arizona, and won the 1980 College World Series with the Wildcats, before the Montreal Expos selected him as the 22nd pick overall in the 1980 Major League Baseball (MLB) amateur draft.

Francona played for Montreal from 1981 to 1985, and then represented the Chicago Cubs (1986), Cincinnati Reds (1987), and Cleveland Indians (1988), while his final years as a professional baseball player Terry spent with the Milwaukee Brewers (1989–1990). Following his retirement, Francona started to coach minor teams before he became the coach of the Detroit Tigers in 1996, while from 1997 to 2000 he served as manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. He also coached the Texas Rangers (2002) and Oakland Athletics (2003) before the Boston Red Sox appointed him as manager in 2004.

Already in his first season with the Red Sox, Terry won the World Series, defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in four games, and three years later, he repeated that success following a 4-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies in the World Series. He left Boston in 2011 with the record of 744 wins and 552 losses, and joined the Fox TV network as an analyst, and then went to work for EPSN. In October 2012, the Cleveland Indians hired Francona as manager, and he was named the American League Manager of the Year for 2013, before taking them to the 2016 World Series, where they lost to the Chicago Cubs.
