Tatiana Maslany Wiki Biography
Tatiana Gabriele Maslany is a Canadian actress, born on the 22nd of September, 1985, in Regina, Saskatchewan. She is of German, Polish, Romanian, Austrian, and Ukrainian ancestry. She is best known for shows including “Heartland” and “Orphan Black”.
With a career that began when she was just ten years old, how rich is Tatiana Maslany? Sources estimate her net worth at $3 million.
Maslany attended Dr. Martin LeBoldus High School whilst working as an actress. After working in theatre for a short time, she moved to Toronto aged 20, and took part in improv comedy, joining the group “The General Fools”. Her first major television role came in 2002, when she featured in six episodes of the Canadian show “2030 CE” as the character of Rome Greyson. Numerous other television appearances, in Canada, America, and Britain followed. She has featured on such high-profile American shows as the sitcom “Parks and Recreation” in 2013, and on the 39th season finale of “Saturday Night Live”.
Maslany currently stars in the BBC science fiction show “Orphan Black”. She plays the character of Sarah Manning, who has been cloned many times over. This means that Maslany gets to play many different versions of Sarah. Maslany often appears in panels, and at events, to meet fans and discuss the show. She has stated that the final series is “about smashing the patriarchy”. Her salary per episode is reported to be $50 thousand, greatly contributing to her net worth of $3 million.
In addition to her television career, Maslany has appeared in a number of movies. Her first feature was the horror film “Ginger Snaps 2: Unleased”, in 2004. In 2007, she provided the narration for the critically acclaimed David Cronenberg film “Eastern Promises”, starring Viggo Mortensen and Naomi Watts. In 2015, she played a young version of actress Helen Mirren in “Woman in Gold”. Her next project to be released is “Stronger”, which tells the story of a man who loses his legs in the Boston Bombing of 2013. She plays Erin Hurley, the female lead, opposite Hollywood star Jake Gyllenhaal. This role will no doubt further increase her star power and overall wealth.
Maslany has been nominated for, and has won, several awards throughout her career. Her first award came in 2009, when she won “Best Performance by an Actress in a Guest Role, Dramatic Series” at the Gemini Awards. She has since won at the Screen Actors Guild for “Oustanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series”, in 2015, and in 2016, the award for “Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series” at the Emmys. Speaking about her Emmy, Maslany expressed on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” that she felt she did not deserve the award, stating “I feel weird about it. I don’t feel like, I would be, like, ‘yes, I deserve this’”. She is represented by the Resolution agency in America, and by Magnolia Entertainment in Canada.
In her personal life, Maslany is in a long-term relationship with the Welsh actor Tom Cullen, whom she met on the set of the miniseries “World Without End”. She speaks French, German, and English, along with some Spanish.
