Sydney Penny Wiki Biography
Sydney Margaret Penny is an actress born on 7th August 1971. in Nashville, Tennessee USA. Among many appearances, she is probably best known for her roles of Samantha “Sam” Kelly in the CBS TV series “The Bold and the Beautiful”, and Julia Santos Keefer in the soap opera “All My Children”.
Have you ever wondered how rich Sydney Penny is? According to sources, it has been estimated that Sydney Penny’s overall net worth is $2 million, as of early 2017, acquired through a versatile acting career, which she started when she was a child. Since she is still active in the entertainment industry, her net worth continues to increase.
Sydney was born into an artistic family, to comedian father Hank Penny, the pioneer of Western Swing music, and his wife, Shari, who was an opera singer. Penny first appeared on stage at the age of three and a half when performing with her parents. When she was ten, she was given the role of “Young Meggie” in the ABC mini-series “The Thorn Birds”, and although very young, she starred next to Barbara Stanwyck, Richard Chamberlain and Jean Simmons, and earned critical acclaim too, starting off her net worth as well.
In 1985 Clint Eastwood chose Sydney to portray the character of Megan Wheeler in “Pale Rider”, her first feature film role, a successful part as her performance earned her a Youth in Film Award. Soon followed other notable roles, such as in “Two Kinds of Love”, “The Last Leaf”, and also films “The Fourth Wiseman” and “News at Eleven”, in which she appeared next to Martin Sheen, before in 1986 becoming part of the popular TV series cast “The New Gidget”.
One of her most challenging roles came in 1988, when French director Jean Delannoy chose her to play the title role in “Bernadette” – as Sydney didn’t speak French, the film was partly shot in English while she worked on her lines with a coach, eventually becoming fluent. Delannoy continued his cooperation with Penny with “La Passion de Bernadette”, which was completely filmed in French. She also appeared as Sophia Loren’s daughter in “Running Away” and as BJ Walker in NBC series “Santa Barbara” – which earned her an Emmy nomination. All these appearances helped to substantially increase her net worth.
Sydney then decided to move to New York to film the ABC daytime drama “All My Children”, in which she starred as Julia Santos, which earned her a second Emmy nomination and great popularity.
She reprised her role in the TV series in 2005, during which she was also a member of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences board. Some of her other notable roles include in “Hyperion Bay”, “Largo Winch”, “Hidden Places”, “The Wife He Met Online”, “The Wish List” and many others. In 2012, Penny co-produced her first feature film, “Heart of the Country”, a romantic drama in which she also played a supporting role.
When it comes to her private life, Sydney has been married to Robert L. Powers, an acclaimed chef, since 1995, with whom she has a son. Apart from her love for acting, she loves reading mystery and historical non-fiction books as well as gardening, genealogy and tennis.
