Susie Dent Wiki Biography

Susan Dent was born on the 19th November 1964, in Woking, Surrey England, and is a lexicographer and etymologist, best known to the world for her work on Channel 4’s “Countdown”, appearing in the show’s “Dictionary Corner” part. She is also recognized for her “Language Reports” series of books.

Have you ever wondered how rich Susie Dent is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Dent’s net worth is as high as $7 million, an amount earned through her successful career, active since the early ‘90s.

She went to Marist Convent, an independent Roman Catholic day school located in Ascot; after matriculation, she enrolled at Somerville College Oxford, from which she obtained a BA degree in modern languages. She furthered her studies at Princeton University, earning a master’s degree in German.

After finishing her education, Susie found a job as a language teacher in the US, while also working for a German publisher. However, upon returning to England, Susie was employed at the Oxford University Press, for which she worked until 2000. Three years later, she published her first “Language Report” book, entitled simply “The Language Report”, which became rather popular, encouraging Susie to continue her work, and in 2004 she published her second “Language Report” book, entitled “Larpers and Shroomers”. Through to 2007 she published three more books, “Fanboys and Overdogs” (2005), “The Like, Language Report for Real” (2006), and “The Language Report: English on the move 2000-2007”, the sales of which increased her net worth to a large degree. She has published several other books too, such as “What Made the Crocodile Cry? 101 questions about the English language” in 2009, and “How to Talk Like a Local” in 2010, which further increased her net worth.

Thanks to her language prowess, in 1992 she was appointed to Channel 4’s long-running game show “Countdown” as the adjudicator and lexicographer, and since then she has become the longest-serving member, making an impressive 2500-plus appearances, which has added a considerable amount to her net worth. She has also served in show spin-offs, including “Celebrity Countdown” in 1998, and “Countdown: Championship of Champions”. Furthermore, she is also a part of the parody show “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown” (2012-2018), hosted by Jimmy Carr, all of which have also increased her net worth.

When it comes to her personal life, Susie is married to Paul Atkins, CEO of Patomak Global Partners LLC; the couple has two children together, but no further details have been made available about their marriage.
