Susan Kay Quatro Wiki Biography
Susan Kay Quatro was born on the 3rd June 1950, in Detroit, Michigan USA, of part-Italian ancestry, and is a singer, songwriter, bassist and actress. She is the first bass-playing woman who became a major rock star, which broke a barrier for women to participate in rock. In 2010, she was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Rock of Michigan. She has sold more than 50 million albums, and continues to play live all over the world. Quatro has been active in the entertainment industry since 1964.
How much is the net worth of Suzi Quatro? It has been reported by authoritative sources that the outright size of her wealth is equal to $20 million, as of the data given in the middle of 2017. Music is the main source of Quatro’s fortune.
To begin with, the girl grew up with her two sisters and a brother with their parents Helen and Arthur Quatro in the Detroit suburb of Grosse Pointe. Her father had his own band, the Art Quatro trio. At the age of eight, Quatro first appeared on the stage with her father, and as a result, she took classical piano lessons until she turned to rock ‘n’ roll at fourteen, calling herself Suzi Soul and becoming the bass player in the band Pleasure Seekers.
Like many of the former garage bands, Quatro also released a single – “Never Thought You’d Leave Me” – which gained her local fame, and became a commercial success. In 1971, the Pleasure Seekers gave themselves the name Cradle and played harder rock; at that time the music producer Mickie Most saw the group, and invited Quatro to England to pursue a solo career, so at the end of 1971, she came to London. Two years were spent in the studios to write and record songs, then her first solo single “Rolling Stone” was a flop in the UK, but in Portugal it hit the top spot in the charts, so Quatro went on tour.
At the beginning of 1973, two new composers were signed – Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman who wrote Quatro’s first number one hit – “Can the Can” ; she was particularly successful in Europe, Australia and Japan, but in 1974, she received the Golden Bravo Otto in Germany, the Silver in 1980, and the bronze Bravo Otto in 1975, 1978 and 1979. In the USA, Quatro was offered a television role in the sitcom “Happy Days” (1977), so she interrupted her Japanese tour and accepted the offer for fifteen episodes.
At the end of the 1970s, her collaboration with the RAK label ended, but Quatro continued to work with Mike Chapman. In 1978, she and Chris Norman recorded the song “Stumblin ‘In”, which became a big commercial success, especially in Germany. Also in the 1980s, she released “She’s in Love With You” which also became a hit.
Meantime, Suzi has spread her talent around – she’s been able to prove her abilities in acting in a number of guest appearances in various English series, for example in t “Dempsey & Makepeace”, and “Inspector Barnaby”. Andrew Lloyd Webber invited Quatro for the title role in the musical “Annie Get Your Gun” – the premiere was in 1986 in London’s West End Theatre. In 1989, Quatro went on a successful tour of the Soviet Union. Since 2000, Quatro has been hosting the “Rockin’ with Suzi Q” on BBC. At the end of 2005, the film “Naked Under Leather” produced by Sacred Dogs Entertainment, premiered, in which she plays herself. All these varied projects added to Suzi’s net worth.
In 2016, Suzi Quatro received an honorary doctorate from Ruskin College in Cambridge, England, in recognition of her contributions to music.
Finally, in the personal life of Suzi Quatro, she married her long-time guitarist Len Tuckey in 1978. In 1982, Quatro’s daughter was born and her son was born two years later, but in 1992, the marriage ended. Quatro has been married to the German tour promoter Rainer Haas since 1993.
