Sullivan Stapleton Wiki Biography
Sullivan Stapleton was born on the 14th June 1977, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and is a film and television actor, possibly best known for playing the Greek leader Themistocles in “300: Rise of an Empire” (2014). His on-screen career started in 1994.
Have you ever wondered how rich Sullivan Stapleton is, as of early 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Stapleton’s net worth is as high as $3 million, an amount earned through his successful career in acting.
Sullivan Stapleton was the eldest of three siblings – his sister, Jacinta Stapleton, is also an actress. The Stapleton siblings entered the show business world as children, when their mother put them into a modeling agency. Sullivan was only eight when he started getting modeling jobs, and appearing in commercials. Soon his talent was noticed, and he was cast in a short film about a group of high school dropouts. The director praised his acting abilities, and started Sullivan on his path to an acting career. He gained education in St. Martin’s Theater in Melbourne, and then attended Sandringham Secondary College, where he majored in drama and theater. However, before his acting career really took off, he had to model and perform menial jobs, such as taking care of camera equipment on television and film sets.
Finally, the big break came for Stapleton in 1994, when he was cast in the movie “Baby Bath Massacre”, then had a few episodic appearances in Australian television shows, such as the crime series “Good Guys Bad Guys” (1997), and “Raw FM” (1998). He also had a recurring role in the police drama “Blue Healers” (1996-2003), and the famous Australian soap opera “Neighbours” (1998). In 1996, he debuted on the big screen in the comedy drama film “River Street”, alongside Essie Davis. At this time, he had begun to be typecast, since he was often hired to play cops, or other types of law enforcement characters. In his 2003 film “Darkness Falls” he played Officer Matt Henry, while in his next movie, “The Condemned” (2004) he played Special Agent Wilkins, however, his net worth was rising steadily.
However, it was a completely different type of role which brought Stapleton recognition and international fame, jump-starting his Hollywood career. For his turn as Craig Cody, a member of a Melbourne crime family in the movie “Animal Kingdom” (2010), he was nominated for an ACTA Award in 2011. The film was critically acclaimed, and it raised Sullivan’s profile enough to consider a career overseas.
His television career was no less important to Sullivan – he managed to land several main roles, starting with the television drama series “The Secret Life of Us” (2003-2005). Branching out into foreign markets, he joined the cast of the British-American production, “Strike Back” (2011-2015), in which he played Sgt. Damien Scott. Soon afterwards, he continued to play his perfected type of role, this time as FBI Agent Weller in the American crime drama television series “Blindspot” (2015-present).
As for the big screen, in 2013 Sullivan appeared in the star-studded, but ultimately unsuccessful film “Gangster Squad”, with Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, and Nick Nolte. Then, he portrayed Greek general Themistocles in his first Hollywood starring role, in the epic historical fantasy war film “300: Rise of an Empire” (2014). He was once again nominated for an ACTA Award, as well as FCCA Award for his turn in the Australian thriller “Cut Snake” (2014). He now has one scheduled release for 2017, an action thriller called “Renegades”.
Regarding his personal life, Sullivan was in a long-term relationship with his “Neighbours” co-star Carla Bonner, but they split in 2007. Currently he is believed to be single.
