Steve Schirripa Wiki Biography

Born as Steven Ralph Schirripa on the 3rd September 1957 in Bensonhurst, New York City USA, and is an award- winning actor, best known to the world as underboss Bobby Baccalieri in the crime-drama TV series “The Sopranos” (2000-2007), and as Leo Boykewich in the TV family drama series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” (2008-2013), among many other differing appearances.

Have you ever wondered how rich Steve Schrirripa is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Schirripa’s net worth is as high as $6 million, an amount earned through his successful career as an actor, which started in 1995.

Steve is of part-Italian ancestry through his grandparents, and also has Jewish roots, as his mother is Jewish.

Before he became an actor, Steve worked as the entertainment director of the famous Riviera Hotel and Casino. He turned to acting in the mid- ‘90s and had his first role in the film “Casino” (1995), directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci. However, his role went uncredited. In 1998 he was cast in his first major role, as Goon in the comedy adventure “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”, with Johnny Depp, Benicio Del Toro and Tobey Maguire in the lead roles, but in the next few years couldn’t land any notable role. That changed in 2000, when he was selected for the role of Bobby Baccalieri in the TV series “The Sopranos” (2000-2007). In the beginning, his role didn’t influence the whole show much, however, as the show moved forward, his role rose in importance as did his character, becoming the underboss to Tony Soprano, played by James Gandolfini. Steve won an SAG Award for his work on the show.

He stayed focused on the show, but also had several other acting engagements, including the portrayal of Arliss in the action comedy film “See Spot Run” in 2001, with David Arquette, Michael Carke Duncan and Leslie Bibb in the lead roles. Then in 2008 he gave his voice to Roberto in “Open Season 2”, and two years later again voiced Roberto in the third installment of the animated film. In between he was selected for the role of Leo Boykowitch in the TV series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” (2008-2013), which beside the role of Bobby is one of his most memorable appearances to date, and had the lead role in the drama “The Hungry Ghosts” (2009), all of which added to his net worth.

In 2014 he portrayed Vito in the biopic about lives of the members of the rock group The Four Seasons – “Jersey Boys” – while in 2015 he featured in the family drama “Chasing Yesterday”. Also in 2015, Steve was selected for the role of Anthony Abetemarco in the TV crime-drama series “Blue Bloods”, and in two years appeared in 23 episodes, further boosting his net worth.

Aside from acting, Steve has had success in other aspects of the entertainment industry, including being the host and narrator of the crime-drama series which is in part a documentary, entitled “Nothing Personal” back in 2011, and also hosted the TV crime-drama series “Karma’s a Bitch” (2013), which also added to his net worth. Furthermore, Steve is an accomplished author; his Italian ancestry and boss portrayals helped him develop the “Goombas” character, and he has written a number of books based on the character, including “A Goomba’s Guide to Life” (2002), “The Goomba’s Book of Lov”, and “The Goomba Diet: Large and Loving It” 2006), among others, the sales of which have added significantly to his wealth. Also, Steve launched a line of vegan pasta sauces called Uncle Steve’s Italian Specialties Group, a tasty addition to his wealth.

Regarding his personal life, Steve has been married to Laura Lemos since 1989; the couple has two daughters together.

Steve Schirripa Quotes

  • Personally, I think the better they killed you, the better it was. Like Joey Pants went out with the head [in a fistfight]. Michael had a good one [by suffocation]. Mine was fantastic [shot looking at train sets]. But i think if they let you go with a whimper it was a bad joke, instead of, you know, ‘Hey, we’re going to give you a good fucking send-off’.
  • If it’s time for your character to go, it’s time for your character to go – you know what I mean? That’s it. It doesn’t matter who you are. [David Chase] made that statement when he killed off Big Pussy. This was a major character that just got killed. I mean, this wasn’t ‘Friends’. This was a real worry. You know, we would talk. ‘Did you hear anything?’ You’re asking the writers. Nobody’s telling you nothing. Each time the script arrived, you go to the front, you go to the back, looking.
  • [on being cast as Bobby ‘Bacala’ Baccalieri in ‘The Sopranos’] I had been working as an entertainment director at the Riviera in Las Vegas. When I got the script, I remember reading it going, Wait a minute. I mean, Tony’s calling me a ‘a calzone with legs’, and ‘Consider the salads, you fat fuck’. And I’m not much bigger than him. So at first I thought, Maybe they cast the wrong guy. And then they had me come in a day or two early and they fitted me for a fat suit. And for the first two seasons I was in a fat suit. And then I guess, in Season Four, David [Chase] thought I was fat enough on my own, so he let me get rid of it.
