Stanley Alan Van Gundy was born on 26 August 1959, in Indio, California USA, and is a professional basketball coach, best known for coaching the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic and Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The season 2009-2010 saw Van Gundy being named the coach of the Eastern Conference All-Star team for the second time in his career, leading the East to a victory again. The team took their third consecutive Southeast Division title.

During his tenure as the Magic’s head coach, Van Gundy compiled a 222-106 regular season record, leading the team to the playoffs in each of his five seasons, which reinforced his coaching skills and his popularity in the world of football, and significantly improved his fortune.
