Sophie Monk Wiki Biography
Born Sophie Charlene Akland Monk on the 14th December 1979 in London, England, she is a singer, model, actress and radio personality, known to the world for being a part of the all-girls music group Bardot, and for starring in such films as “Date Movie” and “Hard Breakers”, among many other accomplishments.
Have you ever wondered how rich Sophie Monk is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Monk’s net worth is as high as $6 million, an amount earned through her successful career, active since the late ‘90s.
Born in England to an English father and an Australian mother, the family moved to Australia and settled in Queensland when Sophie was two years old. She went to Helensvale Primary School, and then attended MacGregor State High School. From an early age, Sophie received musical training, particularly in opera, and once she matriculated, she began showcasing her acting talents, impersonating Marylin Monroe at Warner Bros. Movie World on the Gold Coast.
When she was 20 years old, she joined the music show “Popstars”, creating a music girl and singing such songs as “Happy Birthday, Mr. President”, and thanks to her previous experience as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator, she progressed further, and after several elimination rounds that included singing and dancing, she was chosen for the girl group Bardot, with Chantelle Barry, Katie Underwood, Belinda Chapple, Sally Polihronas and Tiffani Wood. The group released two studio albums, including the eponymous self-titled album in 2000. The album topped the AUS and NZ charts, and achieved double platinum status in Australia and platinum in New Zealand, increasing Sophie’s net worth by a large margin. However, the group broke-up in 2003, after a couple of months of inactivity in the media.
Even before the break-up, Sophie began pursuing her solo career, and in 2003 released her solo album “Calendar Girl” through Warner Music Group, which reached No.35 on the Australian charts, the sales of which increased her net worth and also launched her to stardom.
Thanks to her successful start in the world of entertainment, and her love for the performing arts, Sophie started on an acting career, and made her debut in the television film “The Mystery of Natalie Wood” in 2004, successfully portraying Marilyn Monroe. The following year she was Janet in the television film “Pool Guys”, then in 2006 featured in the comedy “Date Movie”, starring Alyson Hannigan, Adam Campbell and Fred Willard, while she also appeared in the fantasy drama “Click”, which earned an Academy Award nomination.
Her net worth increased to a large degree when she was chosen for the role of Alexa in the horror film “The Hills Run Red” in 2009, while in 2010 she portrayed Lindsay Greene in the comedy film “Hard Breakers”, starring Cameron Richardson and Chris Kattan, further increasing her net worth. Since then, Sophie has made several more appearances, including in the horror film “Blood Feast” (2016), starring next to Robert Rusler and Caroline Williams.
Aside from acting, Sophie is also recognized for her appearances in reality TV shows, including “The Celebrity Apprentice Australia” in 2015, of which she was named the winner, and in 2017 she was the bachelorette in the reality show “The Bachelorette: Australia” – in the series finale, she chose Stu Laundy as her next partner.Sophie can also be heard on the radio, earning credits as host of the popular show “Fifi and Jules” in 2013, when she replaced Fifi Box who was on maternity leave. Also, since 2014, she has hosted “The Summer Fling” with Matty Action aired on KIIS 1065 and KIIS 101.1, and became a part of the “Kyle and Jackie O Show”, further increasing her net worth.
Thanks to her good looks, she has been named to a number of lists compiled by popular magazines such as FHM, Maxim, and others, including FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women in 2001, when she was named 3rd, and Maxim’s Hot 100 for 2012 when she was named 7th.
Regarding her personal life, Sophie has had a history of high-profile relationships; she was engaged to guitarist Benji Madden in 2007, but the two broke up in 2008. In 2011, she was engaged to Jesse Esberg, but that also didn’t last long. Most recently, she was in a relationship with Stu Laundy, but their relationship was short-lived since they broke up in January 2018.

Sophie Monk Quotes
- I’ve made some stupid decisions, so I have to be careful. I once said ‘no’ to a film that was a number-one hit. And ‘Date Movie’ had the smallest budget of any movie I’d been in, and it went to the top of the box office.
- When I was younger, I was like, ‘I want to be on Playboy.’ My mum was a Playmate.
- My family do not think I’m special – not one, one bit.
- My legs are long but my body is too short.
- I definitely don’t Google myself, because I get paparazzi’d every day. You’re bound to have something happen and someone mean writes something. There’s no power. You don’t know who they are, and they’re behind the computer. Just don’t read it.
- After two and a half engagements, of course I want to get married and have babies, so I am going to freeze my eggs.
- All my success seems to come straight away, and it’s not until later that I get to appreciate it. Like with ‘Popstars,’ I won the competition, and now I look back and go, ‘God, I was lucky to have number-one singles and albums.’
- If I wear bright colors or something, I’ll tie all my hair back. I don’t want to look too like ‘Girls Next Door.’
- It’s so rewarding being on radio, especially because it’s not about what you look like at all. And I love comedy, so it’s very exciting.
- I am definitely one of those girls who want to get married. I have two sisters and they are both married with kids, and I’m like, ‘Oh, I want that.’
- Let’s be honest, I don’t think anyone ever wants to settle down in Hollywood – it’s a place you go to work. And once you’ve hit it, you get out of there as soon as you can. It’s definitely not a place you want to get married and have kids.
- You know all those models who say, ‘I was so tall and lanky and everyone picked on me at school’ – I was not that girl. I hear that and I’m like, ‘Oh, you poor thing!’
- I realise having work done makes you look older – and everyone’s starting to look the same, which is a problem. I’ve admitted that I had a cyst removed from my lip and had it filled – I had to; the lip was half gone. And I’ve tried Botox, but I don’t do it any more. I’d tell anyone who’s going to have it done not to do it.
- I’d actually rather have a talk show in Australia than even America; I hope I do end up with a talk show.
- People see me as a person who can make them some money, which makes it hard to make real friends. I’m asked to do a lot of stuff for free – to wear certain clothes, turn up to events – people use you to make money. I think that’s why I tend to jump into relationships.
- I don’t understand anyone thinking I’m sexy at all. I don’t get it because, growing up as a kid, I wasn’t. I was like a dork, fat, so for me it’s really weird. I became famous in Australia when I was 18, and I was still a little bit chubby.
- I don’t want to be a reality TV star – that’s not for me.
