Skip Bayless Wiki Biography

John Edward Bayless II was born on 4 December 1951, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma USA, but was always called ‘Skip‘ by his father, and as such he is famous as a television personality, writer and sports columnist, probably best known for appearing in the show called “First Take”. Skip is very famous in his home state as he was even included in the Oklahoma City Wall of Fame. What is more, he was nominated for Sports Emmy Award and this is a really great reward for him. Although Bayless is now 63 years old, there is still a high possibility that he will be working for a long time and that soon his fans will hear more about him.

If you consider how rich Skip Bayless is, it can be said that Skip’s net worth has been authoritively estimated at $4 million. The main source of this sum of money is Skip’s activities as a television personality and writer. During the many years of his career, Skip has been able to earn the acclaim and respect of others in the industry, and now his name is quite famous in the sports world. Let’s hope that he will remain successful for a long time and that his net worth will become higher.

When Skip was still studying in high school, he became interested in different kinds of sports and was even named the Athlete of the Year. Bayless was very good at basketball and participated in many games, where he was able to show the best results. Skip was so interested in sports that, with the urging of his teachers, he decided to become a sports columnist for the school newspaper. Who would have thought that this would become one of his main activities in the future as well? Skip continued his studies at the Vanderbilt University, from where he graduated with a degree in English and History in 1974. Notably he was also the sports editor of The Hustler, the university’s student newspaper, and spent the summer of 1969 interning under sports editor Frank Boggs at The Daily Oklahoman.

In 1976 Bayless started working for the “Los Angeles Times”, and this was when Skip’s net worth really began growing. He became so famous that many other newspapers showed interest in hiring him. Skip had an opportunity to work for “The Wall Street Journal”, “Dallas Times Herald” and “The Dalla Morning News”. In addition to this, Skip also worked on several radios shows: “Coppock on Sports”, “The Skip Bayless Show”, “The Fabulous Sports Babe” and others. All of these had a significant impact on the growth of Skip Bayless’ net worth. In addition though, another main source of his net worth was his appearances on different television shows, for example “The Best Damn Sports Show Period”, “The Denver Post”, “SportsCenter” and others. In 2007 Skip began working on a show called “First Take”, which made him even more famous.

Although Skip spends much of his time writing sports columns and appearing on television shows, he still finds some time to write books and he has already released three, which have of course added to Skip’s net worth.

In his personal life, Skip Bayless is married to Ernestine Sclafani in a somewhat difficult relationship, because of Skip‘s commitment to his work, and perhaps because of this they do not have children. All in all, it can be said that Skip Bayless is certainly a very hardworking person, who has achieved everything that he has now only through his determination and talent. Let’s hope that he will continue working successfully and that his shows and writings will remain popular.
